Ovulation test strips faulty or?...

Hello!

It's my first month using easy @ home ovulation test strips (after many recommendations) my usual cycle length is between 28-30 days, so started testing at day 8... Over the past few days LH seems to have stayed the same/gotten less, rather than more... I don't think this right? Are the strips faulty or is it looking likely I'm just not going to ovulate this month? Never used before these so unsure...

TIA! 😊 x

I’d say it’s still too early yet. Your levels can fluctuate across your cycle but will continually rise until you get your peak as you get close to ovulation. I’ve added a picture of mine, you can see it rises very quickly, it went up slightly on CD 18, then i tested 3 times on CD 19, and it went up very quickly, cd 20 it began to drop again. As I was more aware of it I was actually able to feel ovulation for the first time ever which was a weird experience. As you have a 28-30 day cycle I’d say ovulation will likely be around CD14-16.

Keep testing, I’m sure it’ll be in the next few days

Agree with PP, just keep testing especially if it's your first month. I'm on a 28-30 day cycle like you and tend to get a positive test day 16-18.

@Parkopedia @Twoinapod thank you both for the messages and advice... I will keep on testing!!
I've used (and am continuing to use) the clear blue advanced digital opks... I got my first flashing smiley this morning so hoping the easy at home tests will slowly start to rise soon... Using both as unsure how accurate any of these tests really are!? Ttc is such a minefield!! x

Hello again...

Is this normal? (To peak without any highs and then a few hours later to go straight back to lows?)

I did a CB advanced digital test this morning and it was a flashing smiley but after my cheapie this evening I did one again and it's now static... So I guess I have peaked? I'm a bit worried about not getting any highs and the peak being so short lived? I'm assuming ovulation will potentially happen tomorrow...?

Also, is 0.99 a very low peak?

Any wisdom would be appreciated!

Thank you 🥰

Some people have a very rapid high/peak reading, some more gradual. It may well be that it was higher you just missed it. If that’s your peak then likely ovulation will happen tomorrow so get DTD tonight. I’d also keep testing over the next few days to make sure it stays down

Guess I was just really shocked it went from so low to peak and back down again literally within the space of half a day 😅 glad I tested obsessively now or probably would have missed it aha.
I guess I do "trust" it is my peak as my CB test has also shown it now too. x

I’ve added a photo of mine. I got excited that something was finally changing and so did 3 in one day and two the following day. But I usually only test in the evening.

If you just look at the evenings you can see CD19 its 0.36, CD20 it jumps 1.26, CD21 it’s back down to 0.66. If I hadn’t had a few days off work and end up obsessively testing I wouldn’t have seen it rising much at all. It’s very quick.

Ah thank you! That's really reassuring to see! My control lines aren't very dark so my test lines don't seem very dark either... But hey ho... I'll just trust the opks and hope for the best! 🤞 Dtd on Monday so will do so again tonight and tomorrow and hopefully that'll have been enough... Thought I wasn't going to ovulate for a few more days so thought we'd have more time to play with 🙈😅

Have you been using opks for long? This is my second month of the clear blue digitals but first of the easy at home x

@HannahLouD its my first using them. I had coil removed last month so I wanted to try and get an idea of my cycle. I was feeling really deflated as I’d had low results and then it got slightly higher and I got a bit over excited and tested loads 😂

Ahh good luck this month! 🤞
I felt the same until I saw the 0.99 result... But I honestly still feel a bit sceptical as it's all happened SO FAST 😅 you're supposed to only do the clear blue ones with fmu but I guess doing it with the same wee as the "peak" test and that being peak too must just mean it was very quick and sudden... I'm hoping that's not a bad thing 🤔😅

Ok I've officially lost the plot hahaha... Tested again now and it's gone up from the "peak" and is defo the darkest it's been yet so I'm super confused aha... 😩😅

It can fluctuate a bit to the run up to your peak. Definitely looks good though

I know I'm becoming completely obsessed now but does anyone know if this is normal? I feel like that last line is (in person) the darkest yet... I'm so confused! Was hoping they would start getting gradually lighter now...

Hi all, new to tracking and have some questions.. are you able to help at all?
So when is the best time to take the test? Some sites say first wee of the day others say second wee of the day between 10-12?
Also when I'm tracking, when it peaks I've missed my window as ovulation has happened? Or after a few months data, I should be able to see what day the peak will happen and need to DTD before that?? So confused! I have a thermometer to start doing BBT too, my understanding with this is it will be High when I peak too?
Help! Xxxx

Lollywhite · 10/02/2023 08:48

@HannahLouD hiya.. from my experience I’ve always found the clear blue pick my peak up first, your day 15 0.99 may be the onset of your LH surge I would keep testing until they start to come back down but defo DTD!

@Floralsandsmiles I think Clearblue OPK recommended FMU, where as easy @ home don’t .. I generally do FMU then sometimes do another cheapy (easy@home) on evening… when you get your peak it means that ovulation is incoming and u are likely to release an egg between the next 12-36 hours so you can plan ahead, with BBT I think you can only really use that to confirm ovulation has occurred as temp would rise then drop again but by this time ovulation would have already occurred so u could potentially miss your chance DTD..

that’s my understanding of it anyways xx

Thank you @Lollywhite ! This makes alot of sense! So from what CD do you start doing your easy at-home ovulation tests? Then the min you get your peak you check the BBT and then DTD? Got it!lol all so confusing but that makes loads of sense. Is it advisable to do more than 1 ovulation test a day? As if it's not peaked in the AM, it could have peaked by the PM? Xxx

@Lollywhite thank you for the reply!! 😊
My readings were a bit up and down for a couple of days but seems like they are going down now 🤞 does anyone have any insight on what the flip might be going on with my bbt chart as well?! Aha. I was hoping my temp would have stayed risen today, not gone down again... I'm starting to think maybe I haven't o'd this month due to all the weirdness of things... Not sure it's all "normal" aha. Any insight or positive or negative stories are appreciated! 😅💕
