Does anyone know why some threads get flooded with comments, while others practically nothing? Month 4 TTC but not finding much support on here

@Mummyo1 good question, one I dont know the answer to. I am sorry you are not feeling supported, i suppose this is a fairly transient space, with those getting their bfps moving on to different topics and those fed up of continuous bfns find it difficult to talk about their situation. I am 38 yo and heading into cycle 10 so have gone through the motions. Have you any children yet?

That makes me really sad, this TTC journey can be really tough and no one should feel that way. We’re on our 6th cycle TTC so I know how you might feel, tell me more about your journey so far x

Mummyo1 · 03/02/2023 20:56

I've posted a few times, pregnancy tests, ovulation tests and get nothing and it's hard when I see others ask the same...and get comments. I have a son, he's 9 from a previous relationship (I was 17 when pregnant) now me and my partner of 6 years are trying to conceive his first baby!

i would look at the TTC threads on tattle life (off topic, advice section) I think- it’s a smaller group and they are v supportive

TTC is shit, and I have been there- but anything up to a year is normal (I am sure you are sick of hearing that!!!).

I haven’t seen your posts but there may be people on cycle 38 who don’t feel like they have much to say to you on cycle 4.

I caught every time very quickly but my body didn’t like holding on to babies before DD- what helped me keep going was having some fitness goals to follow and trying to eat well for MY nourishment, not as a potential womb. Book some holidays or days out without thinking what if. TTC makes you stand still and it’s so important to LIVE.

sending baby dust and love x

My questions are mainly ovulation based, and hoping someone has more knowledge than me. I'm on CD13, had flashing smileys for 4 days (High fertility) and thinking this is good line progression in 1 day? I'm hoping ovulation is approaching and my flashing turns to static x

You can’t read the clearblue smiley tests like that. Line progression isn’t a thing. You just need to interpret the smiley.

I’ve had a week of flashing smilies before it turned static. I conceived DD that month. If you have a flashing smiley- try as much as you can.

I personally haven’t used this type of ovulation test before, easy @ home opks work really well for me pretty cheap too if you wanted to try something different!
i ovulated day 18 this cycle which is really unusual for me so just try and DTD as much as you can.. do you track bbt as well? As that shows when you have ovulated too which I found was really helpful to know the timing between getting my peak opk and my rise in bbt! Good luck for this cycle x

Pjmasksonrepeat · 03/02/2023 22:26

I just wanted to say good luck and you're not alone. I cant try to conceive yet as my blood sugars are too high so I pop onto this board for inspiration but I havent tried ovaluation sticks or anything so can't answer anything. But I do try and support where I can.

monsteramunch · 03/02/2023 22:34

Hi @Mummyo1 the boards can be hit and miss and I'm sorry you're finding it tough. TTC can feel so lonely even if you have a lovely partner! We've been TTC#1 for over a year now and it's ever so upsetting whenever a cycle isn't successful.

Re your question on the flashing smileys, you do have to just go by empty circle / flashing / static. There isn't line progression so don't take the tests apart as tempting as it can be - as that wont give you any useful info!

I find doing the digitals once daily alongside the easy@home OPK strips twice daily has worked the best for identifying ovulation. I started tracking my bbt this cycle too and that also confirmed so I felt nice and confident about us at least timing things right. Now in the TWW, with our fingers crossed for some good news after so long.

Sending you lots of luck Flowers

Lightandlow · 03/02/2023 22:41

I think timing can have a lot to do with it. If you pop up a thread and there's no response in the first while it can slip down the list.
Sorry you aren't getting the support you are looking for. I'm here a long time and feel a bit jaded with it but when I was first ttc and wanted to share and ask questions and obsess I loved joining the big threads. Look for a ttc in February thread or the likes and join in. Often people who don't get a bfp stick together for follow on threads and that's where you get the best support. Chin up lass and good luck x

Mummyo1 · 04/02/2023 07:39

Woken up this morning, done my digi the same time as always...on testing day 7 and I've peaked! I have my static 🥳 xx

You'll get more comments if you:

  • post in the evening
  • your title is a question
  • at the end of the post say what you want from post
  • don't do a massive post
  • use paragraphs

Pitstop1986 · 04/02/2023 20:24

@Mummyo1 have fun BDing tonight! And fingers crossed for some good news in 2 weeks time x

Ive.found mumsnet great for support. I was previously on fertility network and found absolutely no support. It seemed very obvious people had their own little groups and didnt like new people trying to mingle in. I was at a pretty dark place of despair until I found mumsnet.
