Letrozole 3rd Cycle

Hi everyone,

I’m currently on CD30, days 3-7 of taking letrozole, in addition to adding a trigger this cycle. AF still hasn’t turned up, I normally have long cycles, however letrozole has shortened them to 28-30 days. I’m not holding out any hope as I tested today (14 DPT) and it was negative.

Triggered on the 19/01, had some CM on the 20th, and some spotting on the 21st.

Consultant advised that I had ovulated as per my blood results. Any hope for me or am I totally out?

Thanks!

Hi @Mimi19861 , I've just gone through my first cycle of letrozole with trigger and on cylogest now. It is cycle day 14 for me. I done the injection on Monday and then by yesterday...I think cervical mucus went away. Was quite a bit on Tues/Wed this week. As it's my first cycle I'm not really sure if it brings on period earlier or later but fingers crossed for you!! Have you tested?

Hi Jen, thanks for the message. This is my 3rd cycle of LET, but the first time with trigger. Yes I’ve tested but nothing, all coming up as a BFN, so not sure what to expect. Slight cramping in the lower back area today so maybe AF is on her way. 😞

Keep your hopes up though, it can work for you. Xx

Hi Mimi,
Ah ..will still hope! I will let you know how I get on! It's so hard as it makes it even more that you're relying on this one thing to help and makes it different to other cycles. I do get PMS and it's quite specific so I think I will know if I'm out this cycle by next week. I'm due on 18th Feb as the 28th day but if I ovulated few days ago then my af may show earlier this month. Let's see fingers crossed xx

Hi @Mimi19861 how did you get on?? I'm 11dp the trigger but think I would have ovulated last Wednesday. So about 9DPO. I am having some sort of my usual PMS symptoms. I think I will test on Monday for 12dpo but really just feel like all the af symptoms are starting up..

Hi Jen,

Nice to hear from you again, AF showed up on CD36. I have to retake LET on days 3-7 and start a new cycle. It’s extremely emotionally draining having to go through this each month.

I hope it’s a positive for you hon, just try and stay positive, you never know…

❤️

Hi @Mimi19861 hope you are doing okay. Must be near to ovulation / trigger time? Did you increase the dose this time for letrozole?

I'm on day 29 and tested BFN twice this week so not really hoping for a miracle. It's been a really up and down week in the sense sometimes didn't get any PMS and then have felt it at other times. My fertility doctor told me to continue taking cyclogest until Monday at least (unless period arrives) and they will do a blood test to check for HCG. Again after two negative tests ..I don't expect any miracles. I think it's more if they confirm I'm not then can stop cyclogest and wait for period to come. I didn't think it was a thing but read so much online about cyclogest holding off period either delay or not coming at all until stopped.

Hi @Jen05p @Mimi19861 Curious to know, during your cycles did you ever release 4 eggs and carry on? My second round yesterday showed 4 follicles and the DR said to stop trying but should I?

LavenderSweetPea · 18/08/2023 13:58

@Obione1 I did 5 cycles of Letrozole and never got more than 2 follicles in a cycle. Drs will always recommend with more than 2 you cancel the cycle (and even with 2 caution you only to proceed if you are happy with a multiple pregnancy). The risk is you could end up with 4 successful implantations, quads are incredibly risky to both mother and babies and although it is possible to have a positive outcome more often than not that's not the case.

Your doctor can't force you to stop the cycle (after all, the folicles are there now) but think carefully about what might happen if you were to fall pregnant with 4 - would you for example be able to cope with having a selective reduction if the drs recommended it? I have absolutely no idea with four folicles what the chance of multiples actually are but it's worth some thought.
