Hello 👋 Long time lurker, first time poster here. I'm just looking for a little advice as my normally wonderful support network are a little preoccupied. I'm not sure how much of this is relevant so this is a bit of a brain dump!
I am mid 30s. Our DD is nearly 4, she was conceived very easily. We have been ttc for nearly 1 year. I came off the pill over 12 months ago. My periods have become increasingly irregular (last 2 cycles were 25 then 36 days, lasting between 5 and 12 days). I used ovulation tests for a few cycles but never seemed to get useful results (e.g. peak ovulation showing just a few days before period started). I feel bloated and crampy pretty much constantly. My periods were unmanageable so I recently started taking tranexamic acid to help reduce blood flow. I had acne for a few months after coming off the pill, it improved for a while but has been worse again the last 2-3 months. I may be experiencing hair loss but have always had fine hair so it's hard to be sure.
When I spoke to my GP previously he really focused on the heaviness of my periods (hence the tranexamic acid) - I understand they won't normally begin to explore fertility until ttc >1 year.
Do you think my GP would consider testing my hormones (or anything else) given my irregular periods? I don't want to waste their/my time but feeling quite down about my periods, my skin and ultimately ttc.
