Reason for early period?

Hello! What could be the reason for an early period? I’m 3 days early so today is cycle day 26.
This is our 5th month TTC and I’m always 28/29 day cycle.. what could be the reason for an early period? (I’m not pregnant) so worrying now it could be underlying issues? Or could it simply be that I ovulated on day 12? I only just started tracking BBT so I don’t have that to have confirmed ovulation!
thanks ladies!

Sometimes you just have an off cycle with no clear reason for it. Most women will get them at some point even if you’re usually regular.

It could just be that you ovulated early - I ovulated early last cycle. Are you tracking BBT or using OPKs?

Hi @TTC0123 I’m also TTC for the first time and this is our third month trying. I normally have a 27/28 day cycle and weirdly this month I have started my period on cycle day 20 which is super unusual for me!

I suspect it’s just a funny short cycle but it’s odd because earlier in this cycle I was convinced I wasn’t ovulating as had no CM and no change in temp so now thinking I was right on that! This month I’ve ordered plenty of OPK’s to test alongside temp.

I spoke to my GP and she has ordered some blood tests to check my hormones, etc. I hope your cycles go back to normal next month for you :)

I had a funny off cycle in september last year. no cm or rise in temperature and negative opks. My period came on CD20 so i put it down as anovulatory. They can happen, It's annoying because it was a "wasted" cycle but they are more common than we think. As long as it is a sporadic occurrence it probably is nothing to worry about. Worth investigating for sure!

@wildjasmin hello! That’s really strange then isn’t it?? You know I do put it down to stress as I did lose someone close to be around that time and on top of TTC i think it was too much for my body. Maybe the same for yourself have you been anxious/stressed about TTC at all?
It takes over my whole being each month so it’s not fun at all 🥲 as much as I’ve tried and tried to ‘stay calm’ I just can’t!
butttttt currently on day 17 from that short cycle and just had my peak opk.. so ovulation on day 18!? which is unheard of for me! Praying this is our month 🍀

definitely sounds like you know your body well and you were right in thinking you didn’t ovulate!
I hope your blood tests come back ok, keep us updated when you get them 🤞🏽

Sounds like it happens to the best of us sometime or other! A very wasted cycle for sure that’s exactly how I saw mine! But then also on the positive side.. sooner to then another ovulation rather than waiting the whole cycle length 😅
