This is just a quick thread to ask if this would be foolish to do or not.

I’m curious if I should decorate the nursery yet or not. I’m not yet pregnant. I want to be desperately.

I’ve moved into a new build two years ago and working through decorating it. I know which room would be the nursery and I’ve found some wallpaper that I really love for the nursery. It’s a beautiful royal blue with hot air balloons and circus theme. So not too gender specific.

It needs to be decorated anyway as I hate white walls everywhere and I don’t want to decorate it in just anything and then have to change it once baby arrives.

I also have a three month old nephew who can use the space in the meantime when he sleeps over.

is it silly to start decorating now?

Gently, I don’t think I would as (hopefully not!) if you found that you were struggling to conceive then seeing that every day would be awful for you. Flowers

I wouldn’t as you don’t know what the future holds and if you encounter any problems you could be torturing yourself by having that room decorated.

No as things happen that you might not expect

MolesOnPoles · 18/01/2023 11:38

Don’t do that. It could lead to such horrid upset if things don’t work out / it takes years and years.

I wouldn't. We were going to get a bigger house before ttc ready for the new baby. Luckily we didn't as we found out we needed ivf. You never know what will happen and you don't want a constant reminder if it all goes wrong.
We finally got our miracle baby and we're now in a house too small but this is preferable to having a room for a baby that we might not ever have had.

Paint it a nice shade of blue and buy a roll of the wallpaper. Put it away.

When the time comes, however you get there- it can always be a feature wall.

TTC is a pile of wank, losses and chemical pregnancies are common. It can be hard enough without a nursery being decorated

MaverickGooseGoose · 18/01/2023 13:16

Really don't do this. You never know what may happen in the future.

As others have said I personally wouldn't as I can't imagine the pain of having to redecorate if things don't go to plan.

We decorated the small room by painting it a gentle yellow. Before our baby arrived we put up a jungle themed freeze and bought a jungle light shade. Could you do anything like that? So paint it a nice colour so you can enjoy the room and then add to it if you fall pregnant?
