TTC while breastfeeding

Hey ladies, I wondered if anyone struggled to fall pregnant while breastfeeding? My little girl is 16 months and still feeds a couple of times a day, my periods came back when she was 3 months old and I’ve been regular ever since then but wondered if breastfeeding is still hindering our chances or not? We’re on our 5th cycle now, really struggling to stay positive each month! Thank you!

Hi 👋 unsure if struggling as this is only 1st PROPER cycle TTC #2 as last cycle we didn't know we were going to try until after my fertile week
Baby is 14months and exclusively breastfeeding- many times a day and night 😂

If you're having regular periods then I'd think breastfeeding shouldn't be a hindrance. If this cycle doesn't work maybe speak to a lactation specialist to ask. Have you tried the Facebook group "breastfeeding yummy mummies"? I find it very helpful. And they're trained breastfeeding specialists on there

ahh it’s so difficult isn’t it!!! My daughter is such a boobie girl I don’t think she will wean off until (hopefully) we get pregnant again and another baby needs it more 😅

no I haven’t but on my way to join it and ask away!! Thanks so much for the info! I think this cycle is a goner for us as I’m getting all the same symptoms as normal before AF 10dpo today and stark white IC test so onto the next! Hopefully this cycle is the one for you 🤞🏽

@TTC0123 hi my daughter is 16 months and breastfed too- she averages about 4 feeds a day sometimes less if I’m not home. We just ttc this month and I’m pregnant. So don’t worry too much about the bf. I think once periods are back then it should be back to normal fertility. Good luck! Also my daughter is a bookie monster too so I can relate

@TTC0123 theres another ttc whole bf thread some of us are on, feel free to join! Breastfeeding can affect fertility even if you are ovulating regularly again. It took me 7 months to conceive my second , while I was bf my first, and I am now trying to conceive no 3.
how long is your luteal phase? Sometimes when breastfeeding it can be a little shorter and that can be an issue. Lots of info and tips on the other thread x

Currently holding the 5 day old baby I conceived first go whilst still breastfeeding my then 18 month old. He was still feeding a good 5-6 times a day including during the night, my periods had come back after 8 months. I was tracking ovulation using BBT and LH tests, and we used Preseed. I was surprised we got lucky first month though, we DTD literally once on either day before or day ovulation. We’d got pregnant quickly twice before as well though.
