Late period, negative test

Hi all,

For the past two days I’ve been experiencing a handful of pregnancy symptoms, headaches, mild cramps, tender breasts etc. although awfully similar to period symptoms. Woken up this morning feeling very off.

My period was due two days ago but hasn’t shown up…just taken one of those strip tests and it’s negative.

Am I testing too early? I thought positives usually show up quite early, sometimes before your missed period. This would be my second pregnancy, and I can’t remember at what point I tested last time.

Are clearblues usually better?

I didn't get a positive even with a first response until I was ten days late.

My period was also due around Monday and still not here, first cycle trying for our second. I’ve taken 4 tests between last Wednesday and yesterday and all negative. (One had a faint line when I went to bin it hours after I tested, but think that was just a glitch as nothing since)
I felt SO many pregnancy symptoms about a week after I ovulated so I was convinced it had worked. I’m still cramping and grouchy now but that is normal for PMS for me so I’m sure I’m out this month, just wish it would hurry up!!

if it helps I’m sure I tested on day 26 of my 27 day cycle with my first and got such an obvious positive!

coelocanthe · 11/01/2023 09:41

I’m currently trying for my second. My cycles are usually 29 days. A couple of months ago one of my cycles was 35 days. I took a test on CD30 which was negative then waited for my period, which arrived 5 days later. Stress and other factors can delay period. Most likely, if it’s negative now and you know when you roughly ovulated, then it’s probably your period is delayed. Don’t worry, either way your body will sort itself out!

I’m ttc for my first and period is also 2 days late as well as feeling all your typical symptoms. Each test I’ve taken has come back negative. I was using the ultra early clearblue as well. As period is not here I’ve still got a little hope for BFP in the next few days. Wish you luck too!

Chipmunk09 · 11/01/2023 12:57

Thank you for your replies, seems we’re all in this together! Sending you all positive thoughts on your ttc journeys 🤗

I’m going to pop out in a bit and get a clear blue ultra early test.

Oh man! I’m in this position too! Currently cd45 (I am often a bit all over the place, but most recent cycles have been 30-38 days so this is very weird). 14 days after I thought I ovulated (based on ewcm) has been and gone. Negative tests and no sign whatsoever of my period! Keep us all updated x

OnNaturesCourse · 11/01/2023 16:17

I'm here too.

And it totally sucks. You have my sympathies. You just want a answer one way or the other, right!

I'm CD 33, usually a 28 day cycle. One faint positive last week but that was outwith the time frame and about 5 or 6 negatives since. Although the one I took today did make me have a second (and third, and forth...) look as there is possibly a tiny faint line but looks more evap like to me plus appeared after 5 mins. Had brown discharge so thought AF was on route and that completely stopped yesterday.

Eugh.

Chipmunk09 · 11/01/2023 17:46

Just taken a rapid response test and it’s negative. I’m feeling off still, but it’s not looking likely at this point! Will keep you all updated.

I was due period today but nothing I'm really hoping for a bfp been trying a few months now. But I refuse to test it gets me so depressed 😔 my fingers are crossed for you lovely it doesn't help that the symptoms are so similar to PMS

Chipmunk09 · 13/01/2023 11:41

Just thought I’d update everyone, my period arrived this morning. It was just super late and I think that caused me to experience exaggerated symptoms. Wishing everyone luck on their fertility journeys 💐

Hi guys!

just joined because I’m driving myself crazy!!
I was due my period on the 28th June and for the last 9 years since having my implant removed I’ve been like clockwork every 28-30 days and can almost predict when my period is on the way, intense stomach cramps, sore boobs, bad acne and hating the world lol but I’ve had nothing to say aunt flo is on her way, I’ve had mild pulling and cramping along my left and right side off my lower stomach, it’ll come and go. My boobs have been quite tingly and sensitive and I’ve had the worst headache and stinking cold and just bloody exhausted! But here’s the thing, I’ve taken 3 pregnancy test (all being cheapie ones) and they’re all negative!! I’ve been driving my self nuts reading all the forums and googling everything and I don’t know whether to push for a blood test now from GP or wait and see if my period arrives end of July! This would be my first pregnancy! TIA x

Missqey · 05/07/2023 18:29

If you can wait another few days and then take another test, from the sounds of it your symptoms are a lot like mine especially the cold part and I only tested positive once I was almost 14 days after expected period. Good luck!

TheUniqueMember · 06/08/2024 14:39
