Drinking on Holidays while TTC

Hi all.

I should have been ovulated somewhere between 23-29 December. And as we have done in the last several months, we TTC.

I did, however, drink on Christmas day (several glasses of wine, I guess maybe even a bottle in total during the whole day) and than on New Year's (both 31.12 - two glasses of prosecco & 01.01 one glass of wine at lunch and one at dinner and another two of prosecco when we got home).

I didn't see it as a problem initially, but I'm getting a bit stressed. And I didn't even test yet...

From your experience is there any reason to worry? I usually drink like once a month and other than that I am 100% alcohol free. The information on google is very pessimistic on any kind of drinking even when TTC.

Thanks.

Start taking prenatal vitamins if you haven't already.

Don't beat yourself up over the alcohol. A couple occasions so early in the pregancy will not have any significant impact. That is if you even are pregnant...

Still a good idea to stay away from alcohol from now on though

I would enjoy my holiday, enjoy some lovely drinks and not think a thing of it.

Aquamarine1029 · 10/01/2023 16:25

To add... If you are actually pregnant, then I wouldn't drink alcohol at all.

Taking the vitamins and definitely staying away from any alcohol.

Thanks. 🤗

I'm in the same boat as you but we've been TTC for a few months , youd be gutted if you weren't pregnant and missed out drinking and celebrating over Christmas. You only live once

Twizbe · 10/01/2023 16:39

Nope. Nothing to worry about - drink until it's pink.

Lots of babies are born in August and September thanks to booze Xmas celebrations. Don't worry about it.

Just to add I was TTC for 2.5 years for for my first. It would have felt a lot longer if I'd lived like I was pregnant.

The month I finally got pregnant I hosted an Eurovision party mid TWW. I drank wine, beer, spirits, the whole shebang.

That baby is now a very healthy and happy almost 6 year old.

I was worried because I had been drinking the day before I got bfp. But alcohol doesn’t pass to the baby until the umbilical cord takes over after a few weeks. Obviously don’t continue to drink if you are positive, but don’t worry about drinking this early

Thank you all. 🤗 let's see how it goes.

I found out I was pregnant on the last day of my honeymoon. I'd spent the whole week drinking constantly, in hot tubs, ice baths and natural springs. DS (now 5) did not appear to suffer for it 😅🤦🏻‍♀️ Honestly for the sake of a few glasses on a couple of occasions I wouldn't worry OP.

WineCap · 10/01/2023 21:30

I'm drinking while TTC. It's my second time around and therefore I'm enjoying the odd gin and tonic with out the slightest guilt. Obviously if/when I test positive I'll stop.

Bunny2021 · 10/01/2023 21:41

Don’t worry about it. I suggest reading “Expecting Better” it goes into the science behind advice of not drinking etc.

Ella1211 · 10/01/2023 23:30

And here's the positive! 💗 My period should start tomorrow.

Thank you all for sharing. Fingers crossed for everything to go well!!
