Positive test 9weeks after miscarriage

Please help me to understand what’s going on and how I can find out if I’m actually pregnant?!?
I had a miscarriage 9 weeks ago 3/11/22, I had what was called a blighted ovum (which grew to roughly 7weeks) which means the sac grew but the baby didn’t. I didn’t realise I was having a miscarriage until I started bleeding at 11 weeks. I managed to pass naturally after being booked in for an op, and I was told to take another test in 3 weeks - I DIDNT!!! And I regret that now. I had a period 3/12/22 as normal, I’m 8 days late now and just done a test which says I’m positive. I don’t know if I still have hCG in my system and this is a false positive or if I’m pregnant again. Is there any way I can find out?
I’m going to ring the doctors in the morning, but I’m worried they will tell me to wait a few more weeks and test again. Has anyone experienced this?

Sounds very much to me like congratulations are in order OP! I have experienced similar and the fact you are nine weeks post miscarriage and have had a menstrual bleed since, very much indicates that this is indeed a new pregnancy. I would ask a gp to do hcg bloods 48 hours apart - if the levels are rising that is your answer.

Wishing you all the luck in the world, and I sincerely hope this is the baby you get to bring home.

Thank you @Puddlelane123 ! And for your quick reply. I will ring the gp in the morning and ask for bloods. I will keep you updated on the results…

UPDATE : I physically went into the gp at 8am for an appointment, and I was told I would receive a call back today. It’s nearly 8pm and I’ve had no call back. Guess another day of not knowing what’s going on…

Update - it was a new pregnancy! @Puddlelane123 Hcg levels went up and I had my first US which dated 6+ 1 and heart rate was 116bpm. I got teary 🥹

I’ve started spotting dark blood when wiping today at 6+3. Hoping for the best, will keep updating this tread in case it helps others as this site has helped me so much. Due for another scan at 7wks.

How are you, OP?

Goneaboutthiswrong · 21/01/2023 17:39

I’m ok, thank you for checking in. Still dark brown spotting when wiping but I have a reassurance scan at Epu on 31st. Will update from then how things are - I’m trying not to worry too much before then.

Just another update - I went for a scan today as I was asked to come in earlier due to the bleeding. Everything was good, heartbeat detected again and the bleeding lasted from Friday until Sunday (still always brown)
the doctor put me on progesterone 2x a day from 6 weeks and I have to take until at least 9 weeks. I’m measuring at 7+1 today! Thank you all again for this reassuring community 💕
