Hello!

As above it's my first month of ever trying for a baby. Took me some time to get in the right place to try and eventually it was my partner who really wanted us to go for it.

Now that we've started I'm finding I'm more enthusiastic about it and wondering what I can do to maximise my chances.

Appreciate I'm a little late to the game! Have never been pregnant before or had any scares.

I'm taking folic acid, using the clearblue digital ovulation test. I've only tracked one cycle but I seem to be 35 days and I'm currently on day 19, with a flashing smiley face. We have been dtd as much as possible!

I've also ordered a fertilily cup.

My weight is reasonable. In a good job with good mat pay.

I'll be 37 in 3 months so I'm keen to make the most of the next few months. Any advice would be great?

Constantly looking at these weird smiley flashing faces is a bit strange!

Also my partner and I haven't told anyone else we're trying, so I thought this would be a great place to come for support as you all seem way more informed than me!

Thanks :)

Wishing you baby dust. I've just turned 37 a few days ago. Our journey has been a very challenging one . I'm currently on fertility medication while we await ivf. The best advice I can give you is to be patient and kind to yourself. For some it happens within a few months but for others like me it's taken years. I think mental preparation is just as important as physically preparing your body. Try to do what makes you feel relaxed cause anyone on here will tell you the ttc journey really tests your strength . Probably wise not to tell anyone to be honest unless you know they are extremely supportive and not someone who will constantly be asking every month if your pregnant as I found some friends and family quite insensitive constantly asking if I'm pregnant yet when we first started trying

Make sure you are both as healthy as poss. No hot baths for partner or tight underwear, also both try and cut out or reduce alcohol (if you usually enjoy a glass). It might also be worth both booking into see your GP for blood tests and sperm tests for DH/Partner. For example, if you have say an under active thyroid you are more likely to have infertility and or miscarry. If this is the case and you start thyroxine you are more likely to conceive and not miscarry.

Try and enjoy it as much as poss and if you have a tilted or introverted cervix or whatever it is put a pillow or cushion under your bum and maybe an old wives tale but you could try keeping your legs raised for a short time afterwards.

Read 'It starts with the egg' for advice on other supplements that can help. I took coq10 for egg quality, vitamin D, omega 3 and methlyfolate instead of folic acid as folic acid is synthetic and about 20% of population have a gene mutation that means they can't process it properly (mthfr) which sometimes hinders conception/ early pregnancy.

Best of luck on your ttc journey!

Mk- Thank you for the advice and so sorry that it's been so tough. Do you know if there's a particular reason why it's been so hard? Sounds really upsetting. Wishing you all the best for your ivf journey x

Definitely read it all starts with an egg and follow the supplement advice. I stopped drinking and cut out all caffeine, never smoked so didn't have to worry about that one. For what it's worth, I have been pregnant at 34, 35, 36, 39 and 40. Best of luck x
