Mini Pill Lottery

So I call the mini pill a lottery for food reasons I am very paranoid about conception because DS (1) was a combined pill baby DS (4) was a IUD baby and now I been put on the mini pill I was a little bit nervous obviously. Fast forward the first month went great no side effects apart from no period now af is about 3 days late now and I know it may never come but of course I am now spiralling brain wise as I promised my boyfriend it would be absolutely fine now I'm considering testing tomorrow incase it's not just skipping a period due to the pill I didn't miss any and I was so precise with the time I took em to the minute literally. I haven't heard of anyone getting pregnant on the mini pill unless they missed pills which I know I didn't as I'm on many medication and I take them all precisely 🙈 also haven't told the boyfriend this is happening 🙈 I feel really bad I may of gotten us in a spot of bother 🙈

The mini pill has been great for me every time I've been on it. Nothing is ever 100% but you sound like you're doing everything properly (taking it at the same time every day etc).

I'm paranoid too so I buy a big pack of the cheap Amazon tests and test religiously. I don't get periods at all on the mini pill so it sounds like maybe you're not late, you're not having one at all. However, it's always better to test early so you have options.

I think you need to make your boyfriend aware that no form of contraceptive is 100% and it’s not your fault if you fall pregnant while on a form of i.
However on the mini pill I never had a regular period so you will need to make peace with that if you continue on it.

Thanks for replying I was absolutely thinking of just taking a test once a month as I feel it would greatly help with my pregnancy anxiety especially after two failed contraceptions. Might look into some eBay cheapies so it's not a crazy expensive habit 🙈

Have you checked none of the meds are contraindicated with your mini pill as some are. The mini pill is widely known making periods irregular or stopping them completely though so I'd not worry on that alone, especially if you have been taking religiously. Agree get some tests in for peace of mind when you have a wobble

Yes none of the medication contradicts that was one of the many reasons I had to choose the mini pill as it was the only contraception that would not effect my medication or my thyroid.

I didn't get any periods on the 2 different mini pills I was on. Just some spotting every now and then and never got pregnant. I can totally understand your anxieties around it though seeing as you've been caught out before

That makes me feel much more safer knowing most people don't get a period on the mini pill 😊 I was loving the no side effects of it and I absolutely loved not being bloated this month 😃 if the only side effect is not getting a period I can handle that.

I also did not get periods on the mini pill. In your position though I think I'd use condoms also as a back up. You are clearly very fertile!

Use a barrier method on top of hormonal.

Or one of you get sterilised.

The combined pill is like 2 different pills together- one stopping ovulation and one preventing fertilisation so it's really very rare for it to have failed if taken correctly. Did you always take it at the same time if day? Had you ever vomited?

Yes we were in the process of him getting the snip 😊 I took my previous pills fine also they just didn't work in my case and as for the IUD it was the implant in my arm they had to remove in the emergency room after discovering I was already pregnant. I think I am ok with the mini pill now I've just started to spot brown so my guess is AF will be here by morning hopefully that's also normal too 🤣
