Spotting from 3-6dpo?

Can anyone shed any light as to why on earth I have spotted from 3-6dpo? I know the embryo doesn’t even arrive in the uterus until 5dpo so it can’t be implantation. Has anyone had this before?

I’m 8dpo as of midnight just gone. No symptoms at all other than lower back ache which is what I normally get in unsuccessful cycles. Just so intrigued as to what the spotting could be?

Hey, I had a couple of months of spotting less than a week after ovulation and went to the GP who did a day 21 progesterone test, it found I had low progesterone. I never really had this before and the only change I had made was taking conceive plus pills so I stopped taking them (and started taking B vitamins known to increase progesterone) and after another 2 months my cycles are a bit more “normal” and the early spotting has stopped. Had another progesterone test from GP since and normal progesterone levels.

Have you made any changes to diet etc recently? Perhaps go to a GP and explain the situation, hopefully can do some blood tests to see if progesterone is a cause?

Hi! Thanks for your response. I probably should have put in the OP that I know it’s definitely not a luteal phase defect as I too had spotting in the days before AF arrived. I did have a Day 21 progesterone test which was 30-something but still, I’d get spotting from 9dpo.

So now I’m on progesterone injections which keep the spotting at bay until AF. So that is why I am so genuinely stumped!

Have you had an ultra sound scan recently?

Not for a while no… I’m intrigued now! 😊

May be a good idea to go to GP and see if they can organise an ultrasound scan if you have unexplained spotting regularly at times when spotting isn’t usual (I.e not ovulation, implantation or before AF). If it’s one off cycle it may just be hormonal changes. But if every cycle may be worth going to GP, I only say this as a few years ago (when not TTC) I had random spotting and an ultra sound scan found polyps in my uterus so I had a hysteroscopy to remove them as they were causing the spotting. Can be a million and one reasons for random spotting though and if it happens every cycle I would see a GP just incase :)
