TTC after C-section

Hi,

I will be 36 in February and I really would like to have a 3rd child. I have a son, who is 2 years and 4 months and a 10 month old daughter. With my daughter I needed a C-section as she was transverse and unstable lie.

I know it's crazy ttc so early after C-section, but due to my age time isn't on my side. It might not work or it might take us ages, so it's better to start trying now.

Has anyone got experience ttc after C-section? Did you have problems conceiving or problems in the pregnancy due to the C-section?

How can I check if my C-section scar healed well? Would it be worth it paying for a private transvaginal scan?

Would be grateful for any advice, thanks in advance xx

I got pregnant 6 months after a c section with no problems at all
(but get some advice just to be sure)

It’s fine, no issues at all. How do you think a transvaginal scan would check anything about a C-section?

Slimjimtobe · 28/12/2022 13:54

Sorry posted too soom. No problems conceiving - it’s was weeks after deciding to go again and no issues except low placenta meaning a second c section which I was happy about

I was told to wait a year before TTC again (we weren't planning a second, it was general advice) so the scar would be healed well. You're already ten months later, just wait the two extra months. And good luck.

I am not sure, I just thought they probably could have a closer look at the scar tissue this way. Probably a waste of money.

That's great 😊 How old were you if I may ask?

Hi @Changemyname12 I had a c section in August 2021. I'm thinking of seeing a women's physio for a post natal MOT type check, just to look at the scar and check out my abdominal muscles as I've had some pain and tenderness in the scar. I think that might be more helpful than an ultrasound but maybe not?

Changemyname12 · 28/12/2022 16:20

@WolfMother326 that sounds like a good idea. Are they expensive?

I hardly ever have pain now in my C-section scar, although I heard that it's normal to feel a little bit of pain in the scar every now and then, even years after the section.

They can see a scar on a TVS as they showed me mine which they said was very neat.

however, we haven’t been able to conceive a third unfortunately, we have been trying for almost 2 years. Nothing to do with the c section apparently. It’s just unexplained x

I had my first by c-section and conceived my second the same month as my eldest turned 1 (first month trying). I was 37.

I found a place near me (in East Sussex) where it looks to be about £70. From what PP said above, maybe a TVS is a good idea as well or instead.

I'm sorry to hear that. Have you looked into blocked tubes or your OH's sperm quality? I hope you get your bfp soon.x

@Changemyname12 yes we have looked into it all! But two years down the line nearly,
I don’t see it. Thanks for your nice wishes x
