Chemical? Advice please

Hi wise mamas in my phone! First time poster here.

I took this attached test on Christmas Eve around 11.30am (admittedly after a breakfast out which included a lot of liquid - coffee (oops), water, orange juice and champagne (double oops).

I weed on the test (as opposed to weeing into a glass and dipping the test) and well the wee went everywhere and seemed to almost flood the test and after watching for a minute or so nothing happened whatsoever so I assumed it was faulty, shoved it into a bedside drawer and forgot about it.

I went to chuck it out just now and this is what I’ve seen. We only had unprotected sex once this cycle ( 6 December) - my cycles are a tad erratic but Flo app (usually pretty good) estimated me as ovulating on 12 dec. Either way, the line seems far too faint for either of those possible dates - what are your thoughts? My thoughts are chemical , I suppose an evaporation line is possible but it looks more pink in reality than the photo lets on.

We were planning to TTC from January anyway so this would be a lovely , albeit slightly ahead of schedule, surprise but I don’t want to get mine nor my husband’s hopes up if it’s going to end badly anyway. I don’t really have any symptoms , except for sudden constipation (which I had throughout my first pregnancy) and a steady increase in my resting heart rate.

I have my in-laws over tomorrow so won’t be able to test until Weds earliest (assuming I can get my hands on a test tomorrow which isn’t guaranteed).

Any advice welcome and gratefully received

That looks like an early positive to me xx

Emmamoo89 · 27/12/2022 12:17

Looks positive to me. X

allgoodthings84 · 27/12/2022 12:55

That’s a positive. Is it a boots early detection test or a normal one? Take another (same brand and type) in 48 hours. That’s what the test instructions recommend if a fainter than expected line.

if you ovulated on the 12th then you’re 15dpo today. I doubt you are much less (maybe a day or so) or ovulation would have likely been too far away from when you dtd to have conceived. I’ve had 2 CPs in the last 3 cycles and you can’t tell from just one test. Mine got fainter both times 2 days after my first positive (first positive being 14dpo both times and didn’t test early).

good luck 🤞

Thank you so much for taking the time to reply ladies @Emmamoo89 and @crazymuseummum - I managed to get my hands on a clear blue digital this morning that came back not pregnant so sadly it must have been a chemical . I suppose the silver lining is that I can have a drink with the outlaws now!

Might be too early for the digital. What dpo are you? X

@allgoodthings84 thank you for your response and I’m so sorry to hear about your losses - sending all the baby dust your way. Good question that I should have flagged in my OP - it was a boots ‘5 day early’ which surely would get a blazing line by now. Anyway, I got hold of a clear blue digital this PM and it came back ‘not pregnant’ so definitely a chemical. Can I ask how long after you realise your pregnancies were chemical did you start bleeding, if not too personal? If anything this has shown me how ready I feel for #2 and I am keen to get cracking with the next cycle!

I was a few days after positive when I started bleeding.

I started bleeding the next day after my faint positive (2 days after period was due) so it was quite quickly but i heard it can take a week or so too. Its definitely worth testing again tomorrow and day after with the same tests to see if it gets fainter though

allgoodthings84 · 27/12/2022 18:11

@Spicyadvicey I would take another boots early 48 hours after the first and see if it’s got lighter before definitely saying it’s a chemical. Digital tests are less sensitive I think. I started bleeding 2 days after the test was pretty much negative which was 5 days after AF due. I hope it works out ok for you.

Spicyadvicey · 28/12/2022 09:31

Thank you all. Still no bleeding / period as of this morning, I’ve got some first response coming from Amazon today so I’ll let you know how I get on! Very little in the way of symptoms so not expecting much

Nothing on FRER today so must have been a super early chemical. Hoping to bleed soon so that I can move onto next month 🤞🏼

@Spicyadvicey looks like an early positive to me, hoping you get the answer soon🤞🏼

@Spicyadvicey sorry OP I didn't see your last message before posting, sorry to hear that. Wishing you lots of luck on the next cycle!

allgoodthings84 · 28/12/2022 21:06

@Spicyadvicey i’m so sorry. Fingers crossed for your next cycle

Thank you for your kindness ladies - here’s to next month.

it could be @ChocChipPancake but the line is quite pink in real life , and I’d started having some low level symptoms (fatigue, constipation) similarly as I did with my first pregnancy, so I think it was a true positive, albeit for a short-lived little bean
