Coffee - I’m losing my mind!

Currently 6DPO and this is my second TTC cycle so obviously failed last time.

I’ve been on decaf coffee for a few months now but today I went on total autopilot and bought a Cappuccino in a cafe. I was halfway through before I realised!

I’m worried now about all the studies that suggest it impacts implantation and blaming myself for doing it.

Am I being completely silly?

In the kindest way, yes you're being silly.

I’m totally willing to be told this haha

I don’t want to be dismissive and call you “silly”, but I would strongly encourage you to relax. One cappuccino is not the make or break here, it’s OK.

Also, if it’s your second TTC cycle, you can just say that, talking about your body “failing” in this context is probably not super helpful for your state of mind either.

Yes you are really! The tiny amount of caffeine in half a coffee isn’t going to do anything. We eat, drink and inhale thousands of chemicals every day, some of them would be harmful in large doses, but our bodies are equipped to deal with them unless we have an overdose. Even in pregnancy/ pre-pregnancy.

With kindness, you're being silly. Drink until there's a pink line. Life is too short and pregnancy too long to live like you're pregnant when you're not.

Plus you don't share a blood supply with any baby until 8 weeks.

If it helps, think about all those babies born after drunken night outs followed by tons of coffee to deal with the hangover.
