Amenorrhea post birth control

I have been clear of my sayana press injection for 14 months now.
having very irregular periods still, fertility have said they won’t give me ovulation induction treatment until my BMI is below 30 (currently 34.9 down from 38).
Just wondering if anyone else has experienced amenorrhea for any length of time after stopping birth control?

Fertility have asked me to arrange a HSG on CD1 but I’m not bleeding so can’t book it. I have a follow up in January so will check that with them then.
Feeling a little down in the dumps about this all now.

I feel your pain! I came off my pill a year ago and only had my first period at the start of this month. Bloods were normal for me but ovaries look 'mildly polycystic' according to an ultrasound in june and another last week. They are starting me on letrozole next month although part of me almost wants to see if things settle on their own now since my period finally showed its face last month! The nurse thought it was unlikely though so grateful that I have a foot in the door with fertility now...

From what I've read things can take longer to settle down from the injection compared to the pill (12 months is very very long for the pill but I think more normal for the injection?) so hopefully things settle for you very soon now you're past that threshold!

I just wish I'd been told to come off it sooner before TTC! All info says basically watch out you could be fertile straight away but that's been far from the truth for me!

aww I’m sorry to hear you’re in the same boat. At least you’re able to start letrozole which will hopefully help.
I just wish my BMI was lower so I could start something.
I was fully aware that it takes around 6-12 months for fertility to come back from injection which is why I stopped it when I did.
However, I think we get swept up in it all very easy and it has been the longest 16 months ever and I still feel I’m no further forward :(

Yes you are so right about how easy it is to get swept up in it! I came off the pill earlier than would've been ideal to be pregnant to let things settle but as soon as my doctor took it seriously and recognised it as a potential problem it's taken up a lot of brain space!

It must be so frustrating having to jump through the BMI hoop too especially with Christmas!! Is there no wiggle room on that since you aren't far off that somewhat arbitrary figure of 30 anyway?

Hopefully things settle for both of us soon and are bodies have just taken a while to withdraw fully.

The only hope I have is that there is a trial ongoing for people with a BMI 30-35 which I could be enrolled in to.
AF arrived yesterday 10 days late but it’s getting closer together now so I’m hoping it is starting to settle.
