Hi all, cycle 3 TTC baby no 3, just turned 40 so am a lot more impatient this time while trying my hardest not to get stressed.

Have a really basic question - I'm CD20 and 7dpo according to Flo app and ovulation tests - when can I realistically start testing?

App says AF is due Wednesday but I'm 10 DPO Thursday and it's also saying I should test 11 days from today...

I'm so confused! How soon is too soon on a FRER?

7dpo is too early as it’s unlikely you have even implanted yet. I’ve had bfps at 9dpo but even that is really early. Anyone else would probably say wait until af is late but I’d try and hold out until at least 10 dpo. GL.

you said your app says af due Wednesday? So are your cycles 22 days long? If so that would explain why. FRER can detect pregnancy up to 5/6 days before the day af is late…but I think that is based on a 14 day luteal phase. Implantation happens 6-12 days after conception. I’m not sure If im making any sense to you but hopefully that helps a little

I never had a positive until 11 dpo so I personally wouldn’t bother testing until then as it’s just a waste of money and I only use FRERs for early testing.

Thanks for replying my cycle is irregular 22-29 days long - but only been tracking for 3 cycles. Hadn't heard or thought about a short luteal phase but I see another chat on it so will read up

@Char899 @Pollywoddles I wasn't going to test today (or tomorrow) I was wondering should I wait until 1 day after missed period or 2 weeks post ovulation - I think it sounds like Friday is earliest I should test if AF doesn't arrive.

Wait until you're supposed to start your period. Try something else to distract yourself like a morning yoga ritual, doing things you enjoy. It's disappointing just to see you're not pregnant and that might just be because you tested too early. My friend didn't get a positive test until about a week after a missed period.

If you feel you must test maybe use cheaper strip ones so you don't also feel guilty for wasting money like I do. I try to remember either I'm pregnant or not, tests don't make it so.
