Autoimmune conditions, NK cells, recurrent miscarriages?

Hey ladies,

Just wondering if anyone with any auto immune conditions is having trouble conceiving or recurrent miscarriages?

My first pregnancy in 2020 was successful and I had my DS in April last year.

In July we decided to try again and I got pregnant straight away but miscarried at 8 weeks. I got pregnant again next cycle and miscarried at 9 weeks.

Iv been getting acupuncture and the lady ,who was also a nurse for 20 years , mentioned about natural killer cells and how in some people they can actually attack the fetus as if it's a foreign body and maybe that's what's happening to me? I have ulcerative colitis so my immune system is already out of whack.

Thinking back to my first pregnancy I was actually on steroids and humira for the most part, definitely the first 20 weeks anyway, so maybe that's why it was successful?

Has anyone been through anything similar and has any success stories? I'm losing all hope and can't go through another loss, I only miscarried last week and it's really shook me 😢

@Daffodil21 i did see this thread actually which gave me a lot of food for thought! Considering I was on steroids and humira for my first successful pregnancy (for my colitis rather than pregnancy) it all makes sense, I’m just afraid I won’t be taken seriously when I bring it up 🥴

@Th10 thanks, you too! Hopefully they will see me In The clinic but it’s the same criteria here it needs to be 3 Mc.
must look up private clinics and see. Waiting to drawdown mortgage aswell at the minute so money is tight—it all happens at the one time 🥴

@Daniki Ah, it does doesn’t it! 😆 well, good luck on your journey! X

@Daniki also 5mg.

good luck! Remember you have one baby, so your body can carry a pregnancy to term. There is no reason to believe you can’t do that again, maybe you just need the right medical support (I have an older DC too).

Re money I have spent ££££ on acupuncture, vitamins, chinese herbs, private consultants and private tests and it was all worth it. A million times! Apart from the £50 chinese tea that made me vomit!

@Daniki I've just popped you a PM X

Daffodil21 · 09/12/2022 10:17

Oh I also did acupuncture too. Cured my fear of needles 😅

Hi ladies, how are you all? Hopefully someone sees this but iv such a silly question.

So since the last time I posted I went and seen a specialist and she gave me prescription for progesterone. Aspirin & steroids to start as soon as I became pregnant again. On Monday gone by I tested at 9dpo and got a very faint line, tested again the next day and it was the same. I started the script anyway as wanted to give this pregnancy the best chance possible. Have been testing daily and I have had no progession, possibly even fainter tests. Such a faint test this morning and I'm 12dpo today. Didn't even bother taking the meds as I'm assuming I'm having a chemical. 😥

My silly question which I'm only asking to give myself hope, wouldn't the progesterone be affecting my levels and maybe that's why there is no progression? 🫣

@Daniki sorry to hear. It’s not over until you get your period.

progesterone in my experience does not affect line progression. It progressed nicely with my rainbow pregnancy, and baby is 19 months now.

@AllIwantforChristmas22 thanks for reply! I kind of thought as much 😂 I don't have much hope tbh but I'm ok and I'm a good frame ready for next cycle 🙈😂
