Eating deli/uncooked meat

I've taken a pregnancy test as of yesterday and it is positive, but throughout the last month I've been craving meat quite badly. I'm usually a vegetarian and thus ignorant on meats. I kept eating pepperoni straight out of the packet, yesterday when I found out I was pregnant I googled if it was something I could eat.... Massive worry kicks in... its something i shouldn't be eating and I've eaten maybe a good 4 to 5 packets!

Should I be really worried? This is my first pregnancy after my miscarriage last year and I'm overthinking and just wanted to share on here if that's okay

I really wouldn't worry, especially as you've eaten it before you were even pregnant.

And most packaged supermarket deli meats aren't really a problem. The issue is if it's been sitting around in a counter. Then it might have a certain bacteria that might affect an unborn baby, but certainly not if you've only just tested positive.

I'd recommend Emily osters book Expecting Better for a clear rundown on this topic.

Also, congratulations!

The risk is a rare infection which you would know if you have it. Listeria would put you in hospital. As it’s due to bacteria just heat everything up to kill off any potential bacteria. I craved meat like crazy and I’m not a meat lover. Pepperoni on pizza was amazing! I also loved a McDonald’s which I normally hate.
