Ovulation poas - never getting a dark line

Have got a DC already - found it easy to conceive. Trying for a second now and it is harder, 4 years later. I am a few months of 40. I thought I was ovulating, I have regular periods. I was sure I was pregnant the last 2WWs but I wasn't, and was really disappointed and also kind of shocked. Bought some ovulation sticks and have not received a "dark line" result. It says it doesn't count if the line is pale!? Could I be not ovulating but still having periods? I have tested all this week, and am now at the part of my cycle where the discharge has changed from egg white to sticky / tacky, which I thought means ovulation is over. I am really confused, so any help would be gratefully received!! Thank you!!

Hi @Finly the premom
app is really good for this. You can scan in your test and it will tell you the level and it will be very clear when it is rising and when it reaches peak level. Sticky egg white discharge is a sign that ovulation is on its way, but not yet happened. I ovulate about 3 days after. Keep testing and a dark line will come. testing can be emotional because you are willing the line to turn dark! So try and be patient if you can and know it will come. Ovulation days can vary either side of mid cycle average, so if it is later than CD 14 that’s completely normal. Try to be kind to yourself if you can on this journey. Hope this helps

Oh thank you so much - I was pretty certain the egg-white discharge was when the ovulation was actually occuring. I've had the kind of mittelschmertz pain already. I shall keep testing and see what happens!!
