Drinking and TTC no1

Has anyone drank alcohol while ttc? My husband and I have started ttc but we are currently on holiday and I've been drinking more than usual. I've worried myself and feeling a little guilty now that I’ve drank too much. Just wondered what other ladies opinions were on drinking and ttc?

I drank as usual whilst TTC - I don't generally drink loads anyway, but in the week leading up to my BFP I went out for a couple of cocktails and had 2 glasses wine with a fancy dinner another night! I probably wouldn't have had a really heavy night, but otherwise carried on :)

I rarely drink, often go 6/7 months without a drop. Both times I have found out im pregnant just happen to be a week after big really boozy nights out. It happens, don't worry about it. If you find out you are pregnant when you get home, just don't have any more. X

I made a conscious choice to not drink while TTC because that was what I was advised to do by my GP, but I know lots of women who didn't and all their babies are fine.

It depended where I was in my cycle for me. Before ovulation, I didn't care. After ovulation and having a chance I might be pregnant, I would test before drinking.

Not that it worked anyway. I did a test before going to a party that was negative. Got absolutely plastered at the party. Felt like death for 2 days afterwards and then tested positive with DS1.

DS2 was conceived during our summer holiday. So I definitely drank while we were away. Then stopped when we got back. Tested positive with DS2 two weeks later.

Drink till it's pink!

It can be a long road and no need to live like you're pregnant until you are.

Just think about how many babies are conceived after drunk nights out lol.

FWIW after 2.5 years of infertility, the month I got pregnant was the one where I hosted a Eurovision party mid 2 week wait. I got totally pissed.

Baby is now almost 6 and perfectly fine.

Thanks all. I guess I could be overthinking it. At least we enjoyed the holiday Smile

I conceived on our honeymoon drinking red wine 🙈🤣 and had been drinking leading up to my wedding the week before. I'm now nearly 32 weeks. Just enjoy the process best you can op.

Good luck to you ❤️

DS was born 9 months after a pretty boozy Christmas. He’s now 18 - no obvious issues! He was a fab baby, loves sport, good at school. I doubt the boozy conception has made a difference.

I’d probably not get blind drunk but wouldn’t stop until pregnant. It could take years!

thelma57 · 26/11/2022 10:27

I drank as normal, maybe a bottle of wine a week,
more if I had nights out. You still need to enjoy yourself and have a life (if alcohol is a part of that, that’s okay!)

I agree with the sentiment drink until the line is pink!

Good luck 🙏

Reading these reassuring messaged has helped me soo much so thank you ladies. I drank at my XMAS party-- 4 days post ovulation. I have not drank whilst TTC but with each negative/disappointed month I decided this month to let my hair down. I am now riddled with anxiety that this could be the month I am pregnant and I have caused harm to my baby.

You'll be fine.

You don't share a blood supply with any baby until around 8 weeks.

Thank you for your comment <3 I am worried because all the research states you should stop immediately whilst TTC. I need to stop scrolling through google!

Step away from google.

You'll see from my first comment on here, I got totally pissed mid TWW with my first. He's 6 next month and perfect.
