When to test

I wondered if someone could guide me when to take a pregnancy test. I've been reading everywhere to wait until period is due to test but also understand it one can be taken around a week before you're due period? I have been off the mini pill for around 3 months but recently been getting some twinges and thinking it might be from my body adjusting, not sure. Have had sex once this month about 2 weeks ago. Thank you x

You could test before but its probably best to wait until you've missed your period! With my boy, I tested the day my period was due and the line was very clear... its hard waiting though isn't it 🥰

Thank you, my period start days have been irregular over the last few months..it'll be a long few weeks of waiting and probably all in my head but we will see:)

I have a feeling it'll be negative though as my symptoms have stopped and I only tried once this month probably at the wrong time but will see, I hope you get the result you want, when do you think you'll test?:)

@Strictlyfan11 ahh you never know! I’ll have to do it Friday next week as I’ve got a smear booked in which is more important but period should be here on the Sun maybe!? I expect nothing but a BFN every time although first month using the digital ovulation tests and planning it all perfectly so FINGERS and toes crossed 🤞 same for you xx

I only tried once and am currently 10 weeks pregnant! It really does only take one sperm. I also got my positive at 8 DPO. Test whenever feels right for you, and I really hope you get your BPF!

@Strictlyfan11 me too 🤣 I never assume any different to be honest. After 2.5 years in total) with different circumstances for the first 2… I’m never one to get too far ahead of msyself but I’d LOVE it to be the case. Best of luck to you too - let us know x

Thanks @Yolo23 and @Strictlyfan11 !! Unfortunately no tips, wish I did have some, but I've learnt everyone is so individual when it comes to conceiving and most of time it's nothing more than luck. I got pregnant this time on my first cycle trying after a miscarriage. I already have one DD. Having spent previous months having all the sex in the days leading up to and after ovulation, and got no hint of a BFP, my heart wasn't really in it the month I did actually conceive (I was still feeling emotional post miscarriage), so we just did it on the day of my positive OPK and hoped for the best. Turns out we got lucky, and I'm now just hoping this little one sticks. I really do wish you both all the luck in the world for when you do test - I know the 2WW is like water torture, so do whatever you need to do to survive!!

That’s really good info to know and to reflect on 😊 you’re so right - there’s absolutely not a size that fits all, even when it appears that way in the ‘real world’ which is why groups like these are so so important. I had my first ever BFP yesterday (took about 4 different tests 😅).. then because I wanted to tell OH this morning and be sure, I done another digi and it showed negative which was super confusing!! this was part of a pack of 2 CB - one digi and one normal - the normal didn’t have a control line either.
so I drove straight to the shops to pick up more tests and the next 2 digital (one just CB early detection) said pregnant and the other normal said pregnant 1-2 weeks. So I’m praying that the other 2 from the same box were faulty… it’s been especially confusing today but will test again Monday and call GP I think 😅
definitely isn’t over until it’s over!

Hi everyone, quick update.. had a blob or so in the loo this morning after bleeding off and on yesterday, still not on proper AF but my digital now says not pregnant so I guess that’s the end of that! 😩
One thing I will never do again is test even the slightest bit early (wasted so much money on tests this month and had 5/6 BFPs) just sharing some advice. Feeling ok but just want the bleeding to start now so it can be over with and we can enjoy our holiday to Dominican on Saturday. If anyone has any advice around how long it takes to start, and how long generally it may last, I’d really appreciate it 😥🥺 xx

@Yolo23 hi so sorry I didn't realise you had posted until I saw an email today! Sorry that your digital has said no pregnant today how confusing is it all:(hope you are OK! I am not sure how long until bleeding starts I'm not much use with all this sorry. I'm also negative and deciding to put everything on hold for a year or so, hope someone can give you some proper advice and that you have a nice holiday too xx

I had a missed miscarriage back in August/
September whilst I was on the pill. Again only tested as just wasn't my usual self. Did a few tests that had VERY faint lines so must have been early. Left it a good 8-10 days before testing again and there was a big fat negative. I never actually got any bleeding after, I probably should have got it checked out but I never did 🥺

@anon1411 oh bless you. Horrible isn’t it! I am sorry to hear that. Interesting that you never really got any bleeding because I’m uncertain what on earth is going on with me but no pains or super heavy bleeding but yeah. Sad times - some of us have to go through so much! Xx
