Hi all. This has probably been asked a million times but I have never used an OPK before. I am ttc my fourth child - I have three healthy beautiful kids, aged 12, 9 and 7. Two were conceived first month trying and one on the second month trying. Trouble is I am now 41 years old 😣(only just). I had a miscarriage in March at 10 weeks although the embryo had died a few weeks before. I have now been ttc for a couple of months but my partner works away and we don’t always get the chance to ttc. My first three children are my ex husband’s and he was always around. I have started using OPKs this month, due to my age and also his work pattern. Started 5 days ago on CD7. I got 2 days of flashing smileys, today was day 2, and this afternoon I did another and got the static smiley! I was glad it went so textbook tbh but I had read that the LH surges in the afternoon a lot. Also did a couple of the cheap OPKs and got clear positives, really dark lines. Now I dtd 5 days ago (low fertility), 3 days ago (flashing smiley) and today (static smiley). I now won’t get the chance until Tuesday. I am slightly embarrassed typing all this about my sex life but needs must! Do you ladies think I have done enough? I don’t want to miss it and this time his work pattern was bang on ❤️ Xx any replies are much appreciated, this is a whole new situation for me! Thank you x

Hiya!

I used these OPKs for about a year when TTC my DD!

Basically it's always best to DTD leading up to ovulation, as it's such a short window once the egg is released, so best to have the sperm there waiting! (Apparently it can live up to 5-7 days I believe) so yea DTD in the lead up always works best! So what you've done should be hopeful!! Good luck!!

H@Girlmumma1 thank you! I am old though but I did put a post on here a couple months back and lots of ladies said they conceived, some of them older than me! I had trouble with RPOC after my miscarriage, ending up with an op in June, three months later, which threw my cycle out of whack for a while. Keep your fingers crossed for me. I am glad you ended up with a lovely little girl xx

Forgot to add, my youngest, my 7 year old, she was not planned and was the result of one drunken night. I really have been so lucky with how easily I have conceived, it never occurred to me I would have a miscarriage xx

@Jomummy1013 normally when you get a static smiley you’d ovulate the day or two after, so sounds like you’ve got it covered ☺️ good luck lovely xxx
