Starting a new thread to see if anyone else is..need a hand hold and company 😊

44, TTC number 2. Going for bloods and an ultrasound soon as we have been trying for 10 months now.
Using Clearblue digital 2 day strips...no smiling face for me!
Cycles regular, 25 days.
Conceived DD1 at 39 after 6 months trying.

I'm not over 40 , I'm 37 but I'd like to join your thread just to keep my hope alive that it's still possible beyond this age

legseleven22 · 20/11/2022 05:51

Welcome @MK85
What's your situation? TTC first or second?

I don’t know if this gives anyone hope but I’m 7+2 weeks pregnant at 41

Mattieandmummy · 20/11/2022 13:01

Oh my goodness definitely have hope! It is entirely possible, my four year old I had at 37 and my 18 week old is asleep on my lap. I am 41 and both were entirely natural conceptions.

thejadefish · 20/11/2022 13:46

No longer ttc but I've been there and here to offer support. Had DC1 just before turning 40 after trying for 18 months. Tried for DC2 for 3 years ish, didn't fall pregnant once, went for ultrasound tests etc was told I had 2% chance of conception with my own eggs regardless of whether I tried naturally or attempted IVF. Finally fell pregnant naturally at 44 (& a half if that counts) I am now 45 with a healthy baby. The years of trying were awful, the constant hope and disappointment and feeling like I'd both left it too late/blaming myself and watching the other mums who were in my original baby group having a second (& in one case 3rd) with apparent ease was hard. I got my happy ending, hope you do too xx

BabyMamma7 · 20/11/2022 18:52

42 and on cycle 8 TTC #4 for me and #3 for DH, first together.

He had a vasectomy reversal in February this year

MK85 · 21/11/2022 00:47

@legseleven22 were trying for our first. Its been quite a long journey. It took years of battling with gps to finally get a diagnosis of pcos , then a further few years just for a referral to get to where we are now. I'm just about to start a clomid cycle next month to 🤞 induce ovulation.
Some days are overwhelming but it really helps relax my mind reading these forums and hearing success stories later in life. At the start of the year my first consultant told me I was quite old at 36 😔 I think this is where my anxiety and panic stems from

legseleven22 · 23/11/2022 07:21

Just sharing this mums joy as well:

@thejadefish your story gives me so much hope!

When you carried on after that news that you had a 2% chance...did you just see how it went and totally relaxed?

I'm just trying to do that...I'm 44, TTC 2

I'm 38 so not 40 yet but would still like to join if you'll have me. I'm TTC #2 for the last 18 months, both had all the tests and nothing obviously wrong with either of us. I had a laparoscopy for endometriosis in October and had some removed so I assume it's a combination of that and my age

It took us 11 cycles to conceive DS (now 4) but I'm beginning to give up hope now. We're looking to start letrozole in the next couple of months and if that doesn't work we're going to try IVF but can only afford 1 attempt

Saribon · 23/11/2022 07:47

Hi can I join please?

I'm 39 and I have three teenagers.

I'm now trying again with a different partner and he doesn't have any children and is younger than me.

My first ever pregnancy ended in miscarriage at 10 week. I also had an ectopic five years ago due to a malfunctioning coil and lost a tube. My pregnancy with my youngest was also shaky in the early months, I bled all through the first trimester and didn't actually find out I was pregnant with her until 12 weeks because I thought I was seeing periods.

This time round i am cycle 5. I had a chemical cycle 2 and nothing since.

I'm tracking BBT and using OPKs but I haven't done very well with it this month. I'm taking vitamin b6, C and starflower oil alongside folic acid. I also used a fertililly this month for the first time

I'm dpo11 and my period is due in two days. I have a 11 - 12 day luteal phase

thejadefish · 23/11/2022 08:26

@legseleven22 not exactly, I still had LOADS of OPK's left (I'd ordered about 40 off amazon a while ago, I didn't want to throw them away because I'd paid for them but on the other hand what else could I do with them - it's probably not the sort of thing to offer on freecycle lol)
I was still using those to use them up and taking my temperature (from habit I guess) but was no longer trying to time things and had stopped taking folic acid etc. If DH took the initiative I wouldn't turn him down but I wasn't looking at the calendar and OPKs and initiating rigidly myself based on that anymore and said to myself that it wasn't going to happen (Dr said it was a 1 - 2 % chance so I told myself the lower figure). Few months after seeing the Dr my period was slightly (but not unusually-my cycle varies by about 3 days) late and my temperature hadn't dropped so I tested. Couldn't believe my eyes! I kept the door open but wasn't watching it so to speak...

XJerseyGirlX · 23/11/2022 08:58

I'm 39 in a few weeks and ttc baby number 2. I have an 11 yr old dd. Will be the first baby with my DH. I've also lost a tube ( the dominant one after an ectopic 5 years ago). DH had a vasectomy reversal in July this year. Not sure of our chances but didn't want to say we didn't try. Using opk's and have been ovulating. Been dtd every day in the ovulation window. Trying not to let it control our lives.

PP82 · 23/11/2022 10:06

Hi everyone! I'm 40, soon to be 41 and just started TTC this month. Would be first baby for both me and DH, and I have never been pregnant before (or tried.) Feeling excited but also a little scared and overwhelmed.

Saribon · 23/11/2022 10:11

@XJerseyGirlX similar to me then. I actually can't remember which tube they took! I'm pretty sure it was right one but it was all a blur and I at the time I had no intention of ever having another baby.

Let's hope it hasn't hurt our chances too much

Are you periods much lighter these days? My cycle is shorter 23 days on average and my AF lasts just three days and only one of them is regular flow.

I also noticed a reduction in EWCM but since using starflower oil that's much improved

legseleven22 · 24/11/2022 04:46

@thejadefish wow that's amazing... going from 1 to 2% chance to actual pregnancy...
It often makes me wonder if the numbers are based on old data...so for instance 20 years ago there would have been less women TTC over 40 etc...
I don't know.

I have the Clearblue digital OPKs which honestly make me feel like a smack across the face everything I get a ⭕️...
They are the two day most fertile ones.
It's like extra cruelty on myself 😀
I've had static face on the 4 days one...

I don't smoke, drink once in a blue moon and think I have a good diet.
I exercise - running around after 4 year old also ! A lot!

My DH is 46 so could impact too.
Took only 8 months TTC my DD1 but I was 39 then...

Alas...

XJerseyGirlX · 24/11/2022 20:38

@Saribon yes my periods are much lighter since the tube removal , lasts around 2.5 days. My cycle is a little shorter too but only by a day or two and I still have regular periods. I'm not going to start worrying until it's been a year if trying , that's what I've told myself anyway. Dh is very happy with at the sex though so he probably wouldn't mind if it took a while lol xxx

Saribon · 24/11/2022 21:16

@XJerseyGirlX yeah I think you have the right attitude and I got pregnant with chemical so I know its still possible. Just need a sticky one. I'm temping and doing ovulation strips and they show I'm ovulating. They correlated perfect on my chart last month. I'm reassured that you are the same, it's maybe just something that happens after ectopic xxx

legseleven22 · 24/11/2022 22:58

Finally got a smiley face on the 2 day Clearblue OPKs!!!!
Showed up on Day 11. Tested on Day 10 and was negative.
So some positive news!
