TTC early days - advice needed!

I'm 36 and have been TTC for 3 cycles since I had copper IUD removed and before we started was hideously ignoran and it's not proving as easy as I thought it would be!

How long do you leave it at my age before going to see a Dr? And those of you 35+ how long did conception take?

I've only been tracking my ovulation for one month which was day 14 of a 24 day cycle so I don't have a fairly short luteal phase but very regular periods.

We've been DTD loads for 3 months and I just thought it would have happened by now 🙈

At your age, go to GP at 6 months for initial tests. However, important to point out even if youve had loads of perfectly timed sex and you have zero fertility issues, your chance of conceiving on any one month is 1 in 4. Then at 36yrs old thatll be a little less. So taking up to a year is statistically totally normal.

It can take a year for someone under the age of 40 to conceive. If you are 36 after 6 months of trying you should get in touch with your GP

I always think of something someone said on here about how one day that an egg will meets it's sperm and it will happen

It's best to have sex the 5 days leading upto ovulation, the day of ovulation and 1 day after.

If you are not taking folic acid start now.

I know it feels like it but three cycles isn't long at all. It took me over year to conceive when I was 34. Go to the GP after 6 months if it still hasn't happened by then. Take folic acid, stay active and doing things you enjoy to try and take the stress out of it.

Thank you so much for all this advice, with those statistics it's a wonder anyone gets pregnant ever 😆 I'll keep going! Definitely puts my mind at ease there's nothing "wrong".

I've been taking folic acid for a few months already and I think keeping active will help too - I'm usually a chilled person but am definitely symptom spotting on the TWW.
