How long for periods to come back post pill?

How long after stopping the pill did it take for your periods to return? I have been on it around 8 years and will be stopping in Feb, just interested as to what other people's experiences were like.

Have come off pill twice, first time took about 8 months second time only one month.

A few months. Mind you, I'd been on it 10 years and wanted to conceive. Conception took 1 1/2 years after coming off the Pill. No idea if it was related, but wouldn't be surprised.

Gosh, 8 months! Hopefully it won't be that long for me....We aren't planning to ttc until the end of the year but I just want to get off it: a, I think my mood swings are getting worse(feel sorry for DH) b, it would be nice to be off it and get cycle regulated before trying for a baby.

Took 3 months and got pg with DS after first period.

This time periods came back within 1 mnth but still ttc after 6 mths.

I stopped the pill to have my first baby and fell pregnant straight away so didn't have any periods. FOr baby number 2 I stopped the pill and my period arrived after 28 days. I fell pregant after 3 months. I assume with me my cycles returned as normal straight away. Although I hadn't been on the pill for that long beforehand (less than a couple of years each time).

Not sure if its related to how long you are on the pill for? Or is it just that everyone reacts differently to the hormones?

I think it is just that everyone reacts differently -and even that you can react differently at different times of your life. Both times I took the pill for few years and like I said in my prev post took 8 months first time I stopped for cycle to return then second time only one month (and was pg with ds the month after that).
Cosmogirl 8 months is exceptionally long and is not typical -when this happened to me I saw GP about it and he was thinking it was unusual and I started to have hormone tests.

The first month was a 39 day cycle for me after coming off the pill and the second was 45 looong days. Felt like a lifetime and i am abit worried because i want my cycles back to normal by May when we will be TTC.

I came off the pill beginning of Aug. !st cycle 30 odd days, next 88 days! now I'm on day 39 or something. Been 6 months off the pill and only 3 cycles. Bloody pill mucks everything up (i've decided). Never going on it again!

The pill leaves the systen very quickly after taking the last tablet. There is no real evidence to suggest that the pill is responsible for failure to ovulate.

Irregular cycles post taking the pill is often due to hormonal problems. In this regard polycystic ovaries and or thyroid problems are common culprits. Both of these should be tested for.

What the pill can do is mask the symptoms of any underlying hormonal problem already present.

Thanks for all the input ladies. Have about 12 or so pills to go!! Am getting a bit freaked but am excited to come off it. Although it was ages ago, I vaguely remember being a 28-30 day cycle before I went on the pill - but so long ago the memory is a bit fuzzy.
