HI, I am just going thru my 1st cycle of IVF ICSI at UCH. I have 2 children from previous partner. DP has low motility. at egg collection i had only 7 eggs, 3 were immature, 2 failed ICSI, 1 didnt fertilse and so was left with only one egg which was transferred day 2 last Thursday. AM feeling very low about my chances. Any positive advice?

It only takes one....

Just to stay positive. Easier said than done, I know. I haven't gone through IVF (at 42 as well, we can't afford it, and I can't imagine NHS will pay for it), but I imagine it's still a matter of stress and wait, stress and wait... try to keep busy with other things and hope for the best... best of luck to you!

It is hard not to stress when you are given so much information isn't it? I think that it is helpful to remember that IVF/ICSI puts you back in the same position as a fertile couple - better in fact as you know you have an embryo - whether it implants is the same as any other cycle. But as with a fertile couple, you wouldn't necessarily give up if you don't fall pg in the first month. The rates for women of your age who attempt a course of 3 IVF treatments are fairly good. And UCH is very good.

Hi Worrymerchant
I only got 4 eggs at ec and, after ICSI, only had one grade embie (one immature, two ave/poor). I'm now 17weeks pg (still shocked and amazed!!!)
Take care of yourself - you just can't tell until you af arrives or you get the blood results (I didn't get any pg symptoms either - just a few af cramp niggles)

GOOD LUCK!!!
