Hi all, I have had my AMH result and it is 10.8 pmol/l. Is that low? I'm 38 xx

I was told anything over 17 is normal but I know loads of people around 35 with AMH at about 10. I don’t think it has any bearing on natural conception anyway xx

@Theosmommy2011 I had a v similar result at 32 and it was deemed the low-ish at my age. The hospital d prefers to see >13. I fell pregnant naturally and the specialist wasn't too concerned by it.

I am 35 and I saw a consultant gynaecologist due to a couple of months of irregular periods (on reflection likely triggered by Covid) as I have private medical insurance.
My AMH is 6.2 which is on the low side, but I had 11 antral follicles on the ultrasound scan which is average for my age. The consultant said all was in good working order for TTC and reassured me there was nothing to worry about.
So I understand AMH level is more indicative and less reliable than a follicle count.
Hope this helps.

Hi everyone, I’ve just joined this site as I feel very alone…. I am 40 just turned. I came off my pill years ago, periods didn’t return… they returned in June 22, last few years I’ve been having tests, my results were AMH 1.2, informed this is worryingly low for my age. I have a blocked Fallopian tube and I’m now feeling like it’s never going to happen. I was Informed my cut off for IVF Is end of this year as my ovaries reserve is so low. My chances of success with ivf are 1 in 10. We don’t want to spend 1000s we haven’t got when chances are so slow…. Would you try to accept you’re not going to have a family …… any help / opinions I’m really grateful for. There is hardly any help out there fertility haven’t been great at all x

@LeanneRon personally I would have to give one round a shot to start with and see what happens. Otherwise you’ll always wonder but that’s just my opinion xx

LeanneRon · 05/11/2022 16:03

@Hoping43 thank you :)

I felt like the consultant was putting us off saying you've a 1 in 10 chance xx

FlyOnTheWall89 · 05/11/2022 19:04

@LeanneRon I would 100% give it a go. I think consultants have to be unemotional and matter of fact. Your chances will be low with a very low AMH, but it's better than not trying. Lots of people who I know who have been through IVF have a very positive experience and although very hard, so is trying to conceive in general when it's not working. Maybe consider some therapy too. Infertility is a really tough journey. Good luck x
