How long (DPO) do you wait to test?

Hi,

Asking due to having had no cycle for several years due to contraception - I don’t know when my period is due so can’t wait until it’s late to test.

I think I had an LH surge on Sunday 23 October, so maybe ovulated Tuesday 25 October which would put me at 9 DPO now.

I’ve done a few tests just in case things happened earlier but all BFN. I’m very new to this so apprehensive and keen to know when it’s “normal” to test and when a potential positive might be likely to be picked up.

Earliest I've ever had a BFP is 9dpo but latest was 14 so it's very variable. It all depends when implantation happens!
I'm 11dpo today and BFN so thinking I might be out this month.
Planning a glass of wine or two on sat if I'm still negative! Xx

I got my BFPs on a 6 day early FRER test on 9dpo (MMC) and 10dpo (DS).

I think if you're using Internet cheapy tests you'd be lucky to get a BFP that early though.

I think I ovulated on Tuesday too and got a faint positive on IC on Wednesday PM. I estimated 8DPO. Baby dust to you!

@Got2besoon I’ve done an FRER which was negative but I have no idea where I am in my cycle, nor when I specifically ovulated so trying to remember to be kind to myself this month.

@Amyjones86 thats so exciting. Fingers crossed for you that it gets strep get snd stronger. I read that the most common BFP after BFN’s is 14 days this week so I’m trying to chill out.

This cycle was meant to be just about understanding cycle and process so trying to remember to take pressure off!

I had my positive on 9DPO. Did about 5337953 tests between then and about 12DPO as I just couldn’t believe it.

I used to test every cycle six days before AF was due . After countless cycles and wasted money I now wait until AF arrives and now wouldn’t test until I was a good few days late :(

It really is heartbreaking that some appear to conceive so easily - or do they!? I’m questioning everything in my mind these days when an announcement pops up!

I used to be like that ! Had both my DD (18&15) first month of trying….fast forward and I’m now 42 and it’s not happening :(
