Not had a peak OPK

hi all,

as the title says, I’ve not had a peak this month (only been using a couple of months) last month got a peak on CD17 after completely negative on CD16. This month I’ve had negatives even now on CD21, they’ve been between 0.48 & 0.2 on the easy at home ones from CD11 with no consistency.

Does anyone know what can cause ovulation to be missing or super late? Stupidly not tracked EWCM either so no idea and only DTD every 3 days or so which I doubt is enough.

I dont think BBT is for me as I don’t sleep great so not sure what else I can do?

DTD every 3 days is fine tbh, sperm can live for days.

How many times are you testing a day?
I would do it twice incase your peaking in the afternoon

This happened to me recently - was using OPKs until about CD21/22 and gave up, assuming it was an anovulatory cycle, as previous two months I had a clear positive OPK on day 15.

Cycle ended up being 39 days long, and looking back at my BBT chart it looks like I did ovulate about CD27 (but didn't DTD at that time, so missed it!).

I'm assuming it was having Covid that disrupted my cycle that time, but I think there can be various reasons for delayed ovulation. Keep testing twice a day (and keep having sex when you can!)

I’ve tested in the afternoons around (4-6pm) from CD15 and they’ve never been darker than the mornings.

@Mortima I’ll keep going then, I’ve had a sore throat but not covid / major illness so maybe that.

@Fran919 it happened to me, usually have a peak on cd18 and one cycle it ended up positive on cd23 instead. I was starting to think I just wouldn’t have a peak that cycle. I did have a swollen lymph node right at the start of the cycle, it didn’t even develop into a sore throat but maybe it was enough to delay the first phase of the cycle.

@Blue2020 - thanks, I’ve tested today and received a static smiley (first time using them) but the strip tests which showed a peak last month of over 1 is showing 0.5 today, which is the highest this month so assuming I’m just ovulating late!

Are the clear blue digitals reliable?

My peak last month lasted for literally 3 hours. It's very easy to miss it. I only know because I'm having fertility treatment so I test several times a day to make sure I catch it.

Couple of suggestions:

  • Are you ensuring that your urine is concentrated enough? If you test in the afternoon, you should try not to drink too much and hold it for a couple of hours so it is dark enough. There's no point testing very dilute uring.
  • Do you see a pattern of them getting gradually darker? If so, start testing more frequently as they get darker.
  • Sometimes, especially on easy at home, it may not actually look quite as dark as the test line when you are in your peak. I recommend also using the Clear Blue digitals when you know you are nearing the peak.

Hope this helps - I'm a veteran of this now!
