I'm FTM baby 6 months, I'm 39 and very keen to crack on and TTC 2nd. NHS recommends waiting 18 months, because of potential "complications" and low birth weight. I feel fine how do I know if I've healed. I had a C section and will be having another c section. Any info or data appreciated

@ChampagneLassie I'm not sure about guidance or advice unfortunately! But we tried for our second from around 6 months, fell pregnant after four and lost it sadly at 12 weeks, I'm currently pregnancy again 4 weeks, and DD is 17 months xx

I'm sorry for your loss, hopefully everything goes OK this time xxx

We started trying early as it took two years to concieve our Daughter! I don't think the guidance is too strong as long as you have no complications!! X

C section i think they recommend a larger break as there are risks for the wound opening up during the next labour if it hasn't had long enough to heal

I can't answer for post c section births but I was pregnant with my second when first was 4 months. I actually went to the GP beforehand and asked if it was safe to have another and she said 'the fact you're even considering it says to me your body is ready to have another' but of course that was after a vaginal birth.

My DD has 14 months between her first two, both nine pounds!

I’m in the same boat, we’ve just started trying and our little boy is 14 months. I had a c-section too. I would of held off until nearer the 18 month mark but I would rather they both had summer birthdays. I think surely after a year is safe enough, I’ve had friends accidentally get pregnant even 4 months after a c-section and it was okay

BiscuitLover3678 · 14/10/2022 17:14

I think it’s ideal to wait a year as miscarriage is more likely. Up to you though! Can you speak to a dr? I was told a year after my C-section, another 18 months so also depends how it went.

20 moths between my dcs, both well over 9lbs and all was fine!

Dipsy12 · 14/10/2022 17:18

I was advised that 2 years was preferable between c sections because of putting stress on the scar
