Hi all,

Any advice? I am 4 days late today, keep getting BFN on tests but decided to randomly do a OPK using clear blue digital and it came back with a flashing smiley! I use them throughout my cycle anyway and always neg until around ovulation. Im confused!!

Perhaps your cycle is off and you've actually ovulated late?

2022TTCBaby1 · 08/10/2022 19:20

@Glera maybe. I usually ovulate around day 15-16 today would be 32. Yet cycle is usually 28

If you are late with BFN then you almost definitely ovulated late (or skipped). OPK could be increasing because a) you're ovulating now or b) period is about to come as LH rises just before a period.

If your period disappears for >90 days, contact your GP

Now on day 8 with no sign of AF. Had an ultrasound yesterday to see if i have endo or PCOS. If i was pregnant would they have seen it and not told me? Or would it be too early to detect pregnancy??

@2022TTCBaby1 they may not see it yet. My first scan was 2 days after I tested + (10 days after period was due) and there was no sign of a sac so they tested hcg on the Friday and then 48 hours to look for an increase. Could you request bloods through the department you had the ultrasound with? Was it the EPU? That'll atleast suggest a pregnancy or not.

2022TTCBaby1 · 12/10/2022 18:51

@Glera thank you for your response. Was yours an internal scan or external? Yeah it was an EPU but they werent looking for pregnancy. I have an appointment with my GP friday morning so will request them then if AF is still a no show and tests are still negative.

I am amazed you got an ultrasound this fast - the guidelines are 3 months of a missed period to gynaecology referral, which currently has a waiting list for ultrasound in my area of 8 months!

Honestly overall it is not likely you are pregnant, rather more likely you have skipped ovulation or it is v delayed. However, if the GP would check HCG in bloods that will mean you know for sure

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl i was referred back in June to check for PCOS and endo. 16 week wait!

Just so happens to line up with a missed/late period

Ahh that makes sense @2022TTCBaby1 ! If you have suspected PCOS, do you have irregular/long cycles? Unfortunately with PCOS the body makes several attempts at ovulation so you see a few 'run ups' of LH. Most apps predicting ovulation or period are useless with PCOS and LH tests also aren't much help.. it's so frustrating I know - i have an ovulation disorder myself

SheBuilds · 12/10/2022 21:09

Im normally a 28-30day cycle, but temps were low and no LH surge all through September. I eventually had a positive OPK on CD30 confirmed by a temp change. If we don’t get a BFP I’m expecting AF to turn up 13 days after ov on CD45.
I would say there’s definitely a chance the flashing smiley is correct.

2022TTCBaby1 · 12/10/2022 21:23

@IWillBeWaxingAnOwl since coming off the pill my cycles have been between 27-29 mostly 28. With my first cycle 42 which i am expecting was my body coming off the pill which i had been on for 15 years. This is my longest cycle yet its frustrating. I had suspected PCOS and endo 5 years ago but they didnt find anything. I think theyve found slight endo in this scan so this could possibly be the start of my irregular cycles :(

@SheBuilds thank you for responding. I think you are right with the flashing smiley as AF hasnt come. So i took the opportunity and made sure we did DTD everyday haha
