To be so utterly confused - TTC

For context...

I've had two early losses at 5 weeks in the last 6 months (we've only tried for 4 cycles in 6m so 50% success rate conceiving)

I have been given progesterone to take next time I fall pregnant. Doctor thinks it was possible due to breastfeeding that I miscarried. I have now stopped feeding, and in the middle of my second cycle post miscarriage.

I started charting temp this month. I'm just so confused.

I've noticed no definite rise, and my BBT seems very low (anywhere between 35cand 36c).

I then had a positive OPK on day 11, stayed very positive on day 12, and ovulation cramps on day 12 too. My EWCM (I get a lot!) was present for 5 days up to and including day 12. It dried up on day 13 and the cramps were gone too.

Take the temps out of the equation and all the signs are there to say I ovulated - cramps, EWCM, positive OPK etc etc... but is it normal to have very low temps and not see a very definite rise in temps after ovulation?

I don't get loads of sleep as have a bad sleeper 18m old and don't take my temp same time every morning but it is the first thing I do when I wake and before I've gotten out of bed. Using a under the arm stick thermometer thing.

I think surely I must be ovulating as I've conceived twice, but I didn't conceive last month despite hitting the right days and this month ovulation Would be early if it was day 12 as I suspect?

I also have a slightly high TSH of 2.68 which is being treated with levothyroxine and hoping it'll start to come down.

There is just so much to consider, I'm getting myself so so confused. Any advice anyone?

Sorry there is a lot to unpick 😞😞

Do you take your temp under your arm?

blueberry23 · 29/09/2022 09:13

I do @KatySp !

That may be where you are going wrong. It needs to be orally, vaginally or anally otherwise it won't give you an accurate reading. Are you using a BBT thermometer that's to 2 decimal places?

I do @KatySp !

Uh oh, yep, you need a proper bbt thermometer and you need to stick it under your tongue.....and leave it there for a good while until the reading has definitely stopped rising. Mine beeped when it thought it was finished but the temp crept up after the beep, so those "beeped" readings would have been low and inacc6.

*inaccurate

Brilliant info thanks guys.

Yes the thermometer I have you can use orally/vaginally etc so I'll use that starting tomorrow!

I just assumed it would be accurate under the arm 🙈

Mumsnet is really so useful sometimes ❤️

Would you both say based on my symptoms above that i ovulated on day 12 @KatySp @Batbatbatty ?

Isn't that super early?

But the distinct lack of EWCM on day 13 and the ovulation cramps on day 12 and the positive OPK on day 11 are really convincing that that's what's happened.

It's hard to tell, and generally it's only BBT or a blood test which will confirm ovulation. I have multiple periods of EWCM and positive OPKs due to PCOS so BBT is useful for me.

But you know your body and if those are generally the signs of ovulation then it could just be that you ovulated early.
