Things that feel hard when you’ve been ttc for a while

A list of things that hurt a bit, even though they ‘shouldn’t’ because everyone has their own worries and everything is legit!

  1. posts of people’s bfp lines when they are worried they’re not strong enough
  2. posts of people’s very obvious bfp when they say ‘is this positive? I have line eyes!’ Yes of course it’s effing positive congratulations!!
  3. people agonising over names on the baby naming board. Feels so trivial when you’re struggling to conceive :(

anyone else have any?

100% the first two

I find gender disappointment threads annoying. Having a baby is wonderful. Doesn't matter if it's a boy or a girl.

anotherscroller · 26/09/2022 20:33

Yes! So true with the sex disappointment.

also for the same reason the longer I ttc the harder I find abortion threads even though I am 100% pro choice.

I agree totally about the BFP's - very hard when there is obviously a line there and people are complaining about it or acting like they can't see it - I don't get it honestly. But I guess people worry at every stage of pregnancy. I haven't got there yet so don't know if I will end up being the same.

I actually kind of like the name boards because thinking about my potential future child's name helps me focus on the positive/ hopeful side.

TTC isn't an easy journey for everyone. Look after yourself and try not to do too much comparison - maybe avoid those BFP threads for now! Good luck.

anotherscroller · 27/09/2022 08:12

It’s really strange behaviour isn’t it. Anyone got any theories why?
yep I think avoiding those boards is the only way. It’s just a shame because they’re supposed to be supportive.

For me it's when people around you get pregnant by accident or really easily (bonus points for if they also joke about how fertile they are).

100% agree about the attention seeking 'is this very obvious line real' posts. They are extremely irritating. Especially when the person then doesn't believe the first seven people who comment and decides to take more tests and ask the same question the next day about blaring positives.

anotherscroller · 27/09/2022 11:03

Yes!! A pregnancy test is a one day thing, ladies. It’s not like an ovulation test.

*obviously unless it’s a problem with chemical pregnancies/early miscarriages. But the ones I’m seeing are not!

It feels like so many of my friends are pregnant and so many in the media too.
