me and my partner are wanting to try for a baby but are due to go on honeymoon in a couple of weeks. My first ovulation period is coming up and we were going to start trying. We know how incredibly lucky it would be to fall pregnant first time round, but as we have our honeymoon coming up, we will be taking around 7-8 flights in total as we are going to Australia/Singapore etc so if we do fall pregnant this cycle, Id probably be around 1-2 weeks gestation.

I don’t think I’ll fall straight away at all, but if I do I don’t know if anyone has any experience with flying early trimester that far? Or whether they’d just skip trying at all this month. I really don’t think I’ll fall so quickly but just overthinking!

A flight at that stage won't make any difference so just go, enjoy your honeymoon and enjoy all the lovely romantic honeymoon sex!

It’s entirely up to you but I’m fairly certain the NHS advises there’s Zika in Singapore, of course the risk is small but it’s deemed a risk.

Oh really! Eek! I’ll have a google. I really don’t think I’ll fall instantly but there’s always that risk!

Just unsure whether to wait or just try from now!

@Magicwells I believe if Singapore is in the Zika virus risk zone. It’s recommended you don’t try to conceive for 3 month once returning from that location due to the issues the zika virus can cause to the early fetus.

I believe zika is active in Asia/Singapore. So personally I wouldn’t risk it and ttc 3 months after your return.

@Magicwells The PP @Indianna2006 is correct, NHS advise to wait 3 months after potential exposure to Zika / visiting an area.

The list of places it’s not in is small (trying to find a holiday destination that’s warm is proving difficult!) I’d personally enjoy your honeymoon and try 3 months after you get back :)

Seems like due to your destinations it's best to postpone ttc, but generally speaking it's fine to fly in early stages. (I actually found out I was pregnant whilst on my honeymoon, having spent the whole week drinking and alternating between saunas, hot tubs and ice baths). 😅🤷🏻‍♀️

FlounderingFruitcake · 20/09/2022 10:31

Postpone for 3 months given the Zika risk, sorry. But in answer to your original question I’ve flown at very early before I knew I was pregnant twice and both kids are fine!
