PILL... PREGNANT?!

anon1411 · 15/09/2022 19:54

I take the pill every single day and have the one where you don't take a break. My periods are very irregular, I can go months without any at all then it will randomly appear one day. The last period I had was end of July. I didn't have one in August at all (not uncommon)

However this past three weeks I have felt very different. My appetite has completely changed, having more toilet trips ( woke up twice the other night for a wee and that usually never happens), felt sick on and off alot, boobs hurting just feeling uncomfortable in general with them and i have been very emotional. (I'm not a poorly person so unusual to feel like this for me) Around 14 days ago i had the worst cramps all day, crippling at a few points in the day to the point I had to curl up in a ball. Had a funny feeling it was a miscarriage as that's the only pain I could compare it to. But nothing came of it, no bleeding whatsoever and weirdly I felt better within 24 hours. Then within a few days of that happening, i went to the toilet before bed and noticed I had some pinky marks when I wiped. So put a pad on thinking okay this is my period coming maybe. Went to bed and woke up, was a small pink mark thats all. And same when I had my morning wee. Pink spotting lasted 24 hours if that. And then since then I've had nothing other than symptoms I stated above🤷‍♀️
The only thing I can compare it to was when I was pregnant with my boy but the whole situation is a bit crazy. I don't know what to think.

Is this just me over thinking things or could I be pregnant even religiously taking the pill? (I have been very stressed lately which I know can affect rhe pill) I know this is possible. Has anyone had this happen to them?

With perfect use, the failure rate for this type of pill is <1% per year. With regular use, accounting for human error, it's 9% per year.

Do you take it at the same time every day? Is it the 3h or 12h window type?

Can you remember having diarrhea or vomiting after taking it?

RandomMusings7 · 15/09/2022 20:14

And no, stress won't affect the pill efficiency, but it might affect your periods.

Any reason you are waiting to take a home pregnancy test?

anon1411 · 15/09/2022 20:16

Okay update on dates as this may help with a timescale:

20th August- Horrendous Cramps
07th Sept- Pink Spotting for 24 hours
09th Sept- Took a ClearBlue and got an incomplete blue positive line.
10th Sept- Took a FRER and had the faintest line appear- albeit a little close to the control line.

So very indecisive test results and lots of symptoms 🤦🏼‍♀️

Sorry didn't see your message before I updated my message, but yes I did test and got the results stated above and then I thought maybe it was too soon so I've been holding off. 🤦🏼‍♀️

Without wanting to sound crude yes I had diarrhoea about 3 weeks ago, give or take!

RandomMusings7 · 15/09/2022 20:39

If the diarrhea was close to taking the pill, it might not have absorbed fully and it might have affected it's efficacy.

But do test again if you haven't since the 10th.

Hope you get the result you are wishing for 💐

IchbineinBerlinerin · 15/09/2022 20:42

If the 10th was really a faint line, it'd be a clear positive by now. I'd just take another test.

stayinghometoday · 15/09/2022 22:16

Back when I took the pill (almost ten years ago) the leaflet said that it wasn't safe after diarrhea. So I'd test in your case.

Yeah I mean it wasn't bad at all, just had a bit of a bad tummy for 24 hours. Didn't even have to go to the toilet that much just the fact that they were looser than normal but I suppose it could have affected it. Will test tomorrow and see :)

I'm so sorry to hear this... 🥺
I miscarried about 5 years ago and it was one of the worst experiences I've been through.

Sadly I had this experience too. However the midwives and my friend who is an obstetrician confirmed that falling pregnant on a pop pill doesn’t make you any more likely to have a miscarriage.
It does place you at slightly higher risk of ectopic so if you have any early bleeding you need to get to EPU to get it checked out

Gillseybear · 17/09/2022 16:39

Hey OP,

I hope you have had managed to get some answers now.

I have fallen pregnant on both types of pill. I was on the combined pill in 2017 and I fell pregnant but then had a MC.
Then in 2019 I had the same thin but was on the Mini pill. So yes it is possible.

I just wanted to add that even faint lines are still positive. Therefore I would test again and speak to the doctor.

Thank you so much for your message. I took another ClearBlue test last night and I can't really see any line and then took one this morning and again looks like nothings there. Sometimes Sometimes I look I think I can see the faintest blue line but then I wonder if it's in my head.

The only thing I can think is I'm having a Chemical Pregnancy. I'm having all the symptoms but just no full distinctive positive. I think I will try and see a doctor as I just don't know what to think 🥺

Thanks again Gillsey Bear

@anon1411 have you tried a pink Frer test to see what that shows. Clear blue are notorious for eBay's and indents. I brought a pack of clear blue teats recently (the blue dye ones) and they already had the negative horizontal line on them. So I have brought some more today.

I have heard this about blue dye tests too!!

I did do one but it was extremely faint and could even be an Evap Line... I've asked a few people, some say they can't even see it at all, others say they can but aren't sure. I've attached the photo but yeah. Quality isn't the best as it's not distinct as such.

@anon1411 I can see it on here and on your other feed. It's so frustrating I must admit. My faints looked exactly the same as that but when I first saw the doctor they could not see it and went down the root of it is billiary colic / Acid reflux. All that is done has made my IBS worse and not eased the symptoms

unicormb · 17/09/2022 20:48

Mini pill? Absolutely could be. My DH and I double up with condoms now.

And another one I've done today as it was spare. Either I'm having bad luck with multiple Evap Lines across tests or it's going to be that I may be a late one, in the sense of a positive test. Like some of the other ladies on here have said they didn't get their positive until a fair few weeks in 🙂🤷‍♀️

Black and White filter for easiness to see on the photo. It is a blue line in person, faint.. but there.

Hey @anon1411

That test defo looks like positive to me. So hopefully congratulations to you 💕

I had some good news today. Managed to speak to an out of hours doctor that has put me on some anti sickness tablets and that has helped a lot. I am not longer throwing up as much which is a godsend.
On a different not I got my positive test aswell. It was slightly darker than that but still clear enough to see. Still no sign of AF and so going to take it as a tentative yay. Going to see how things go and if still no sign of AF or anything else by the 27th September, the doctor that I spoke to today has told me to get in contact with the doctors and start my midwifery care ect. So it's been a good day all in all.

anon1411 · 18/09/2022 21:18

@Gillseybear

Oh I'm so happy for you 💐 congratulations. That is such good news. And how many days late are you today? I'm so glad you got your positive and you got somewhere with the doctors, all in all an amazing day for you.

🤞💕

@anon1411 yes it has been a really good day. Thank you so much and now here to hoping it stays a sticky bean.
I am actually 3 weeks late for my Af. I had faint lines that were hard to see like yours but this one was not a squinted at all. So now just to see what happens next I guess.
Just going to take it easy tomorrow and relax a bit as I have a busy week.
I have an interview for my dream job but now this has put a spanner in the works.
