Hi everyone,
I've had the Copper IUD for just over a year now, also came off the pill about the same time after being on it for 5 years. My periods took a few months to settle, there were a few months after insertion where I did not get a period at all but they did eventually start happening again every month.
Since January this year my cycle length has varied from about 20-30 days, period app averages it at 25 days. I've mostly always had spotting every day from about March/April time this year but I can always definitively tell when I'm actually on my period based on symptoms/flow/type of blood etc.
However, I didn't have a period at all in August. I'm now 3 weeks late, was due on 17th August. Period before that was 25th-30th July. Funnily enough after this period all bleeding completely ceased which was unusual as I said before I was having constant spotting. About a week after that period I had light bright red bleeding for about 4 days, then nothing. Period was due 17th August, came and went. I had a lot of PMS like symptoms round about that time, but no period. Have had cramping also which feels like I'm going to come on but it doesn't happen, and have none of the usual pre-period bleeding that I usually get, it's like it has completely disappeared with no concrete signs or feelings of it going to happen.
I've done about 5 pregnancy tests, all negative. I've been having regular, unprotected (aside from IUD) sex for the past few months. Could feel IUD strings after my last period but ever since then I haven't been able to feel them, wondering if they're too high up to feel but have never come back down. Boobs are definitely bigger, feel bloated quite often also, alongside a few other symptoms but maybe that's just my brain going into overdrive and worrying. Should I be worried? Should I contact the doctor? Unsure what they can do if pregnancy tests are negative. It's just a strange situation and I'm at a bit of a loss, any help or words of reassurance would be welcomed.
I know it's quite unlikely that I would be due to IUD, but I know it can happen - also know I'm at a higher risk of an ectopic if it did happen. Obviously wouldn't be planned but wouldn't be upset by it either.
