TTC with hyperthyroidism

Has anyone been in this situation? I have hyperthyroidism and have been on Carbimazole. Consultant has now changed my meds to proplythiouracil and I have to have blood tests every 6 weeks.
Just wondered if anyone has been in a similar situation and if you have any advice/tips? This will be our second baby but I didn't have hyperthyroidism first time round so it's all new to me.

No experience, yet... But just to say I am in the same situation, we are trying to conceive and I have just had a private test which showed I have subclinical hypothyroidism. I'm just waiting to see my GP at the moment to hopefully get some medication to bring it down

@littlegingerone I also have subclinical as my T4 and T3 levels are normal. What is your current TSH level? Mine is 0.16 but consultant has given me the go ahead to try for a baby.
Have you only just been diagnosed?

Hiya, sorry I've just realised, mine is hypo which is underactive and I think you're saying yours is overactive? So my TSH was 4.34 and the "normal" level is 4 I think so, they wouldn't normally treat mine but just monitor apart from if ttc or pregnant as it needs to be under 2.5 to conceive and maintain pregnancy. Sorry I'm not much help! I just did a private test after reading the importance of thyroid levels when ttc. I've just changed doctors surgery so waiting to get in for my appointment to get some medication for it. I posted on here and had a couple of really helpful replies so hopefully you will get someone along soon who's a bit further along or had it when they ttc. One of the main takeaways I got from the advice I was given was that some gp's aren't that knowledgeable on the link between thyroid levels and fertility and so you may need to go with your own research and push a bit harder.

Lots of luck to you!!!! 🙂
