Still bleeding 6 weeks after miscarriage but pg symptoms!

Had a miscarriage on Dec 1 at 5 weeks and have been spotting constantly since then although had light period in between.

Annoyingly, havnt been able to temp as been getting up really early or really late and they are discarded so no idea if I've ov'd since then.

Suspiciously though, got the same sore boobs feeling I had when I got pg at end of Nov and judging by cm woule be about 6dpo now - does anyone know if you can be pg and bleeding?

Surely one's cervix needs to be closed?!

Also, anyone know why breakthrough bleeding happens? GP seems totally cool with it - she said to carry on bd'ing but scared about another miscarriage

Millie - I'm 13 weeks pregnant, I must have conceived either five or six weeks after my last miscarriage. Bleeding can happen for many reasons. You don't say whether it was a spontaneous miscarriage and whether you had treatment. If so this can irritate the cervix and give you bleeding for a longer period but does really need to be checked out if you are pregnant.

Breakthrough bleeding is caused when your hormone levels drop beyond a level at which your body thinks you have not conceived and that it is time to shed the endometrial layer (the lining of your womb) ready to start again next month.

But you may not be experiencing breakthrough bleeding. Breakthrough bleeding is a specific term usually defined as 'bleeding between periods related to the failure of contraceptive pills to maintain high enough hormone levels to prevent pregnancy'. What you are having is spotting and that can be caused by localised irritation (ie a swollen sore cervix following a D&C or even a vitamin e deficiency if you have cervical erosion).

But the only way to find out really is to do a test and then take it from there.

I've had two miscarriages, I have one daughter and so far so good with this LO. You will always be worried, but that doesn't affect the outcome of your pregnancies either way

oo thanks! I remember you from the detective agency thread I think?

CONGRATULATIONS on your bfp!!!

I had some tests at the docs and get the results tomorrow but she said I dont seem to have an infection.

Miscarrige was natural and I had a scan to make sure but everything was clear.

Just want it to stop now, grrr.

Of course you do - it's bloody exhausting if nothing else bleeding all the time, or worrying that you will.

Thanks for the congrats. BTW don't worry too much about whether your cervix is properly closed, if you are pregnant you get a huge ball of snot like mucous - if you can imagine the worst cold imaginable up there, you'll be close to it. That'll hold things steady while things heal up

Hope you get a BFP tomorrow! If not, keep at it. Your body is keyed up to get you preggers and as long as you keep your end up, there is no reason you shouldn't conceive very quickly.

Thank you.

The test results showed there is no infection or anything and gp just thinks it hormones playing up and there's nothing I can do.

Fertility Friend chart seems to think I am 5dpo so I'll be good and try just to test when it wants me to in a week or so.

Interesting that the body can maintain pregnancy in the most adverse conditions! And yet at times, seems so weak and incapable. I am still angry with my womb

It's not your womb that fucked up my dear, it was a rogue sperm or a bad egg or even just a bad combination. Sometimes it's something as simple as the sperm got too hot and the tail fell off too soon. Let's face it it's amazing the little buggers ever manage the job, it's not like they'd stop and ask for directions!!!!

Stay positive, you have nothing but good news from your doctor. This is an excellent trend!
