LH surge before period?

Hi everyone on cycle day 34 mine usually last 34-36 days

im not TTC I’m cycle tracking (with ovulation tests) for contraception as we want to try soon but not sure when so don’t want to get on hormonal contraception

however I’m due any day now for my period, me and DH have only had sex once this cycle last week and my LH test I took randomly is showing. This

this signals a surge is coming shouldn’t it be gone before my period? Any advice helpful in confused

Had our son 8 months ago so not looking to try right now

It’s not positive but it’s quite dark for a day before my period isn’t it? That’s what I mean x

@Whhhhh have you taken a pregnancy test? Ovulation strips can be quite dark in early pregnancy

@mamazac not yet only because me and DH had sex once this cycle last week? So I doubt that I’d get pregnant there ???

@Whhhhh you never know, might be worth testing just to rule it out x

Is it possible you didn't ovulate when you thought you did? You can have an LH surge but not ovulate, so your body may try again later in the cycle.

But, as PP have said, you can also have a 'positive' (i.e a strong second line) on LH test when pregnant. I had an unexpected pregnancy and did LH tests out of disbelief when I saw positive HCG tests, and the LH tests looked like yours.

You can get a surge just before AF. Mine does this just before my period arrives. It’s completely normal

I was wondering if anyone knew a reason for this.

I took my period a few days late this month and I am slightly irregular due to a large bowel operation and it affectingy hormones.

My period was quite light and only lasted 3/4days. Normal is 5ish.

Now, 2 days later I woke up with alot of CM and done an ovulation test just to see what was happening and it shows my LH is rising??

Is this normal?

I also had an LH peak right before my period and now again right after?

This was definitely a period not spotting and I am not pregnant.

I am a little concerned about this and wondering if this is normal or ever happened to anyone else. I assume it's a false surge.
