Trying again after two miscarriages - terrified!!!

We are just ready to try again for #2.

Two early losses back to back in April and June... no rhyme or reason (i suspect breastfeeding related, I've now stopped completely, 5 weeks ago so fingers crossed that solves the issue.)

I'm due to ovulate in a week or so and we were torn between waiting a while longer or just going for it and I think we are swaying towards going for it.

I'm going to take progesterone as soon as we get a positive test on doctors orders (was wondering if I should actually ask to take it from ovulation instead!?) and I'm debating trying baby aspirin - anyone know how much I should take?

Just waiting for blood test results so hopefully they don't show up anything bad.

I'm just so scared of it happening again. I'm feeling happy again and don't want to go back to that dark place!

Any advice welcomed <3

Good luck in trying to get the to prescribe progesterone before you have a positive test though. I asked them to, and my GP refuses saying it was against guidelines.

im in the slightly similar boat, but I have no living children. Feel like my hormones are very out of whack so giving it a rest this cycle and maybe start again next month.

sorry I have no helpful advice though

@Yutes I actually got prescribed progesterone before I had my last miscarriage, so I have a box of cyclogest I could start taking at ovulation.... and the GP is under very strict instructions from the EPU to issue me with progesterone as soon as I get a positive test (which tends to be around 8DPO)...

I'm sorry to hear about your loss or losses. Have you been trying long? It's such a tough journey. We did not have this at all trying for #1. It's been a bit of a shock. I'm surprised at how emotional I find it all and it's so consuming isn't it.

I hope you are ok x

Anyone else around?

I've had 2 miscarriages this year too (at 4 and 5 weeks. I stopped breastfeeding after the 2nd and am now almost 8 weeks pregnant. Hopefully this pregnancy will continue.

I had an early scan as I'm at risk from ectopic pregnancies. We saw a heartbeat at 7 weeks.

Rtmhwales · 19/08/2022 20:59

I'm on my fourth miscarriage unfortunately.

But yes, progesterone from 3DPO (make sure you're tracking with basal body temps) and baby aspirin 81mg a day. That's what was recommended by my recurrent miscarriage team.

Good luck. I have had 4 miscarriages. 1st before my first baby. Then 3 in a row during lockdowns trying for number 3. My third baby is now 9months old. There was no reasons for the losses before. I started taking something called wassen magnesium ok which helps with cycles after the 1st and 4th miscarriages. It seems to help stick. X

2 MC's this year so far here. My consultant won't give me progesterone until a heartbeat has been seen (2 heartbeats already seen but losses afterwards).

Thank you @Mummy2C !

When did you fall pregnant after stopping breastfeeding? I stopped 5 weeks ago and due to ovulate soon. Hoping I've left it long enough!

I have no advice but to say what an incredibly strong lady you are. After a stillbirth, I too found it hard to go through everything again and always in a constant state of panic with my rainbow baby now. I really hope everything works out for you. With baby loss it’s like we are part of unfortunate club - but a club where we all root for each other. Lots of love to you. Xx

I got pregnant straight away - no period in between. I didn't expect it to happen. I had been BF for 2 years.

blueberry23 · 20/08/2022 10:20

Everything crossed for you @Mummy2C ❤️

I was in the same boat @blueberry23 - two losses last year, a chemical and a 6-7 week MC, took a few months off for mental health and fell pregnant first month of trying again, 12 weeks and all is well so far.

Never taken progesterone but I did self-prescribe baby aspirin this time and took it weeks 5-10. Hand on heart I don’t think it made a real difference - last time my pregnancy was just doomed as was measuring 2 weeks behind from the beginning, with a far too small sac size - so despite LO making it to a heartbeat stage, MC was imminent. No amount of aspirin was going to change the chromosomal issues. This time the measurements and growth was as expected from the beginning. But taking aspirin made me feel like something was different about this pregnancy, I was doing something different - and it can’t do any harm. The current recommended dose is 150g of low dose aspirin dissolved in water and you’d take it before bedtime.

Wish you all the luck x
