I am so confused. Lots of bleeding but tests are still positive

Can anyone offer any advice?
I found out I was pregnant on10/08 at 10dpo. I started bleeding on Tuesday 16th and finished bleeding at some point last night. I haven't had too much pain.

I believe I am 19dpo and I have attached my tests from the last few days. Top one was Wednesday morning, middle this morning and bottom this evening.

The middle one is the darkest test I have ever had ( I have had 3 chemicals since September).

Anyone have any idea how my test got darker after I bled? Is the bottom one lighter because it's a different brand? Is it a chemical again?

Anyone have any good stories after bleeding a lot (almost like a period but for only 2 days)?

I bled in my first pregnancy, not to much but enough.
i am now pregnant with my second and have bled on and off (some days a massive amount) but I have had two scans and baby is completely fine, they can see blood and clots when they scan me and said I may bleed all the way through!
Its an awful feeling every time it happens but my tummy is deffo getting bigger so something must be ok!

Home pregnancy test detects very low levels hcg in the urine, which is filter out of the blood by the kidneys. By DPO 19 your hcg can be very high so even after a loss you will still have detectable amounts of hcg. Because home pregnancy test triggers at a very small amount it isn't uncommon to remain 'positive' a week after a loss (sometimes weeks).
But having said that many women experience bleeding within a successful pregnancy. Ideally if you can going to a doctor for a blood test, that would be the best thing to do right now.

I've just had my fourth miscarriage. I am a week past it and the bleeding has stopped but my beta HCG blood test yesterday was 495 and I'm still getting blazing positives. I miscarried at 19 DPO and my HCG the day before was 2070.

Your tests look super light for 19 DPO so I'd honestly suspect it was indeed a miscarriage. Only a doctor or blood work can really confirm it though. It can be dark because there's still a lot of hormone in your system (mine takes weeks to months to drop unfortunately) and because of the different concentrations of your urine output at different times of the day.

Sorry you're going through this.

My drs is terrible. They have seen me each time and to get a blood test the first time round I had to refuse to leave the waiting room until they booked me in.

I'm too early for epu to see me. Dr said go back on Tuesday if it's still positive they'll refer me to epu if negative they refer me to recurrent miscarriage team.

My first few tests were FRER and £ shop ones which were faint last week. The ones in the picture were from the dr and the bottom one is £ shop which is a lot darker than last week

@maggiegary
how is everything

ColinRobinsonsfamiliar · 21/08/2022 18:50

Hi.
unfortunately I still had positive pregnancy tests for up to 4 weeks AFTER bleeding and pain had stopped.
In other words the miscarriage was complete and the pregnancy gone.
The hormones hang around for a long time.

Kathryn91 · 21/08/2022 18:52

I’m so sorry to hear that!
hormones are awful things sometimes!
x

maggiegary · 21/08/2022 18:59

@Kathryn91

I'm still not sure. Test are still getting darker. I have realised that these £ shop tests fade an awful lot after a couple of hours. The bottom test was this afternoon, went pink straight away and got darker. This pic was after around 10 mins

@ColinRobinsonsfamiliar
Thanks for sharing.

I have had 3 chemicals since September last year, and I never got tests this dark - especially after the bleeding stopped. The test had no line on at all after around a week.

I just wish the bleed happened a few days later then my dr would have referred me to epu. I'm just hoping Ty stay positive till Tuesday then they might at least give me a blood test!

You can still have positive tests for you to 3 weeks after a MC. I would stop testing right now. It's hard but just play the waiting game until you can have a scan.

Kathryn91 · 21/08/2022 19:22

It must be hard, fingers crossed they see you Tuesday. So you can know one way or another x

UPDATE

I have. A scan booked for Wednesday. Tests are still positive

There is a risk of an ectopic. I had what I thought was a period and then continued to get positive tests. Is your scan with the EPU?

I also had really heavy bleeding for 17 weeks with my DD (including being hospitalised) and no reason for it was ever found and she's now nearly 4.

The scan will definitely help establish what is happening but I think I'd be tempted to push for bloods as that is probably what will happen after the scan anyway.

MenonC · 22/08/2022 12:38

Hi, hope your okay. Just to throw in another possible, I was pregnant with twins without knowing and lost one in the first trimester, I didnt bleed but you can bleed when losing one twin - which if I had bleed at the time I would of assumed I was no longer pregnant! Probably not that ,but it's always possible. Hope you get answers soon xx

waitamillisecond · 22/08/2022 12:49

Sorry to hijack the thread but I've also been experiencing some light bleeding and not sure if it's implantation or period.

I see people mentioning their hcg levels via blood tests. Under what circumstances can you have these? And is through the GP or EPU?

maggiegary · 22/08/2022 12:57

@kirinm I will be pushing for the blood test. With my first loss I had to refuse to leave the drs waiting room until they booked me in for it. Made me feel like a crazy person.

OP posts:
maggiegary · 22/08/2022 12:58

@MenonC I hoping for this. Obviously I'll be devastated if I've lost it, but I just want to know for sure!

OP posts:
maggiegary · 22/08/2022 12:59

@waitamillisecond

I can't really advise what to do as I had to refuse to leave the drs until they booked me on for bloods the first time!

I don't know that some people just ask for one and get one... I supose it depends on your drs?

Good luck

@maggiegary
Any update?
how was your scan x

maggiegary · 25/08/2022 18:50

@Kathryn91

Had a scan and blood tests yesterday.

On the scan they saw 'lots of blood' and a cyst. Nothing else.

Nurse said she'd only ring me if bloods were negative. She didn't ring.

Back tomorrow to have more bloods.

Nurse said it could be either way

Oh wow ok, are you tests still postive?

maggiegary · 25/08/2022 19:41

@Kathryn91

I did a cheapo digital on Tuesday night and it was positive. Haven't done one since

Hello, so I had my implant out 3 weeks ago, never started bleeding took a test a 3 days ago had positive results on a few. I started bleeding today literally only spots of blood. Does it sound like implantation bleeding… I don’t know if I’m pregnant or not… but surely the results can’t be false?
