My husband and I have been trying for almost 5 years, last month I went to a different specialist and he put me on letrozole pills. My last period was on the 22nd of July and yeasterday I had pink discharge which I thought was my period bu then it stopped. I took a home pregnancy test and it showed a line, I couldn't believe it so took many more and they all showed either a line or "pregnant 1-2 weeks". I went to the doctor today to do a blood test and confirm the results but he told me that blood test came back negative! I'm so confused now and don’t know what to think, please share your opinion and has happened to anyone before?

first of all sorry to hear about your struggles. I must admit your situation is quite unique from what I know about tests etc...If you tested positive on multiple tests then surely even in the worst case scenario of early miscarriage there has to be some leftover HCG in your blood? So all tests from your picture taken yesterday?

Idunnowhatsgoingon · 19/08/2022 17:05

Hmm i wonder if there's any chance they've got the blood results mixed up with someone else? I would keep taking folic acid and wait a bit and retest a few times and go back and ask for another blood test?

@Marleeen I'd ask the Dr for your exact HCG result. I've heard of friends being told their result was negative when they've had low HCG but it still being more than the positive threshold. You're only just 4 weeks so it's possible your levels are still really low, those tests are really sensitive. Obviously your levels must be >0/5 to show positive!

The test were taken yeasterday and the day before, the one that says (pregnant 1-2) was taken after the doctor said the blood test is negative thats why I'm so confused. I went to the doctor again today and asked about my HCG level it was 37, she said it's best to repeat the test next week and see 🙏

@Marleeen 37 is positive, not sure why they said otherwise! Congratulations

Awful doctor response saying your negative
fingers crossed for a raise in your levels!

woq · 20/08/2022 12:17

37 is considered positive where I live (France), a negative result is less than 5.

According to my last results:
At 3 weeks pregnant, the result is expected to be between 5 and 71
At 4 weeks it is expected to be between 9.5 to 750

So you are well within that range for 4 weeks pregnant. Congrats!

The response from the Dr is ridiculous! They should have clearly said your levels are 37 not NEGATIVE. congratulations OP, 5 years of trying must be so so difficult. You deserve a wonderful, healthy pregnancy xxx
