Going out my mind - am I not ovulating!?

Hi everyone! I have a gynae appt next Tuesday but I just wanted to see if anyone else has been in this position.

AF was a week early in July - awful cramps (bed bound for a day) and expected the mother of all periods. Nothing but 4 days of light brown discharge - super light, barely needed a panty liner on some days as it was only there when wiping. Decided to test just in case, BFNs.

Thought meh, AF being an illusive mistress.

August rolls around and god awful cramps start just when my app predicted based on my last (whatever that was) period in July. However, exactly the same light brown spotting, but even less this time. Nothing on my safety panty liner...just there when I wipe.

I am worried something is wrong or that I am not ovulating. Up until July's period everything was hunky dory. I did have surgery in Feb to remove some grade 2 cells but all has been well since.

Any advice, stories, virtual cuddles welcome. Thanks a million x

Hi, I don’t have any advise but would like to comment to say that my periods have been exactly like this since they returned after I stopped taking the pill at the end of 2021. I log my cycles through OPK testing & confirm ovulation with Temperature checking (BBT). I did have a chemical pregnancy a couple months ago so I’m hopeful that I am able to get pregnant even with these light periods

Thankyou so much for your response! I think I will follow suit and check I am actually ovulating instead of getting in a tizz and thinking the worst. It's just odd isn't it, expecting to see some hint of red every month....and it's just nothing. Sending you all the best wishes ❤

@Ettabelle51 no problem at all. Are you actively trying to conceive? I am still slightly worried about my light periods but having the chemical pregnancy has assured me slightly

@Jod30 currently in the not being careful but not having a strict regime conception category 😂trying to be zen and chill with it. I can completely sympathise with you regarding the light periods - it's sent me into panic mode. But as you say, you're OPK testing and keeping an eye on your temps so you're on the ball.

I recovered for an ED last year and didn't have a period for a over a year before that, then the cell removal, I'm basically scared I've put my body through so much it will never happen for me. Such a sad thought but I know I shouldn't jump the gun!

I really recommend ‘Taking Charge of your Fertility’ by Toni Weschler, it’s a US book, designed to allow women to avoid pregnancy by knowing when they’re fertile, but obviously works other way too. I found that although I always bleed monthly, I don’t ovulate that regularly, this book really helped me to understand my cycles.
