Frustrating waiting for flashing faces!

Hi everyone,

I was struggling a bit with the cheapy o tests so went for some clear blue (yeowch - price!). The thing is that I started tested at day CD12 and my fitbit and iphone app said I am due to ovulate tomorrow. However no flashing smiley at all yet.

I'm wondering if it's just a set level of hormone that those tests are due to detect or a certain rise? This is only our first cycle trying for our 2nd and I didn't track ovulation for the first cycle.

I suppose I'm wondering if we should be DTD anyway as I've mucked up the tracking this month....

You might have started them too late to detect the oestrogen rise which is what the flashing smiley is. Depending on cycle length it tells you which CD to start them. How many days have you been doing them for? You might find it will just go from blank circle to solid smiley because your oestrogen has already spiked but it hasn't detected it it as it was already in your baseline test the first one you did which is why you have to start them a bit earlier than normal opks

Also it never hurts just to DTD just incase. Do you have any cheap tests left?

Crazycatlady19 · 14/08/2022 20:01

Firstly, thanks so much for your reply. I really appreciate it. Yes, I do have some
Cheapies left so I may do one tomorrow. I think I was just panicking, thinking, I'm not ovulating - heading towards menopause etc at the grand old age of 38!

@Crazycatlady19 how long are your cycles usually and what cycle day are you at now?

I’m 38 in 3 months so hoping it’s not too old 😂

Crazycatlady19 · 14/08/2022 20:11

Well normally they line up quite nicely with my app but last month it was delayed and I went from 28 to 33. I had loads of "symptoms" and was convinced I was pregnant but nope, just amended cycle Confused

@Crazycatlady19 on a 28 day cycle you could ovulate CD12 or before occasionally as ovulation doesn’t always happen same time and I think a clear blue opk kit always had a plain o on the first day. I would imagine it would be later but not necessarily

or it could be you’re ovulating late again. What cycle day are you on now?

I don’t ovulate when my apps predict I’m going to so always use opk’s

Crazycatlady19 · 14/08/2022 20:27

Day CD14. That's really good to know though. Thank you.x

Ah it could be a either way then at the moment. I would keep testing as some people only get a day or two of flashing smilies before a static

I only use easy@home cheapies as so far they have worked for me so don’t know a lot about the CB ones but I’ve read loads on here and the number of days of flashing smilies varies massively

Crazycatlady19 · 14/08/2022 21:01

You've all been so kind. Thank you.x

I found my first cycle of using opk confusing too as I never used them when I got pregnant with my daughter

sarahc336 · 14/08/2022 21:50

Yeah you'll have started to test too late as it needs to take a base line reading first and then it measures the surge in hormones as they rise but you had probably started to show a surge in hormones. Next month is you don't hey your bfp start using them nice and early to give the stick a chance to monitor things xx

Crazycatlady19 · 15/08/2022 06:18

Thanks again.x
