Anyone else afraid of second ectopic?

Hi,
I'm TTC#1, had an ectopic pregnancy and had right tube removed in June. I've had first AF in July and was expecting again today, but no sign of it yet.
I've done pregnancy tests and all were negative, however my cycles are short and it could be too yearly for a bfp (13dpo).
I think with all the ectopic trauma I'm freaking out a bit. This morning when straining on the toilet (sorry tmi) felt a bit of pain on left side and I'm worried now that I might ended up having another ectopic 😫
As anyone been in this situation before? How did you handle it?

Sorry to hear about your ectopic. It’s such a hard experience both physically and emotionally.

I had an ectopic earlier this year but didn’t have a tube removed. We tried to conceive again after one period and I was petrified that it would happen again, especially because I knew the tube the ectopic had been in could be damaged (causing another ectopic).

I got a positive pregnancy test first month of trying again and had definite one sided pain, this time in the other side. I was
convinced it was another ectopic. EPU scanned me super early to check. I ended up having three different scans on the same day (!) and being diagnosed with a suspected ovarian ectopic, admitted over night and told my ovary might be need to be removed. Long story short, this was not the case and I’m actually pregnant with twins - I’d ovulated twice on the side with the pain and had an ovarian cyst.

Just wanted to say I understand how scary it is and that fear of it happening again. Statistically, the chances are that the next pregnancy will not be ectopic, but It’s 100% understandable that you feel worried. When you get a BFP are you able to contact your EPU and get checked out ASAP to determine the location of the pregnancy and put your mind at rest?

Sending lots of calming thoughts your way!

I’m yet to be pregnant again after my ectopic, it was partially ruptured and lost my right tube. But i do have the fear, I’m really anxious it will happen again 😞

it’s totally normal to feel like this OP. It’s such a traumatic process to go through

What were ur ectopic symptoms just out of curiousity?? Random flickering left sided pain cant decide if its like trapped wind? Got s scan next week anyway just wondered? Symptoms are really bad now and tests all super positive

Thank you all for your replies 🙂 ectopic is so s**tty that I nearly wish I had a "normal" miscarriage.

@Randomname1234 congratulations on your twins 🙂 I'm glad for you.

@J1290 last time the symptoms for ectopic started around week 6. Had once a little sharp pain on right side and light spotting once on toilet paper. Had a scan and diagnosed with pregnancy on unknown location. A week later had another scan and started bleeding, there was the option of being self resolving, however a couple of days later the pain was getting bad.
Started having pain under ribs and shoulder pain. Had more examinations and all negative for ectopic. Ended up having surgery just to be in safe side and it was confirmed an ectopic and tube was removed (I don't think it ruptured though).
If you are concerned about the symptoms go to A&E to get it checked.

@Mummyme87 I'm very anxious about it. I want to get pregnant and at the same time I don't want it.

I think I might be paying to muck attention on the symptoms because last time I didn't feel anything until much later.

I am so sorry to read your story. Do not panic and stay positive, ectopic (max 3 times) might happen without any reason. A sister of my friend experienced pregnancy loss, and how she is preggy with a healthy girl.

Hi,

I know this is an old thread... I am hoping someone is still reading that can give me some advice... I had an ectopic in October and found out a week ago I am pregnant again. The EPU wont scan me until 6+ weeks so have an appointment in another week. It is driving me crazy.
I keep having cramping but nothing bad. My main concern is I have pain where my left tube was removed last time. The pain is exactly the same apart from less intensity...
Did anyone get this ?
I don't know if I can go another week wondering....

lastbiscuit · 15/03/2023 23:04

@xxxlouxxx what was the outcome?

xxxlouxxx · 16/03/2023 07:49

Unfortunately for me I had another ectopic on my right side this time. They gave me methotrexate but it didn’t work and I collapsed on my birthday and had to have emergency surgery…. We’re now booked in for IVF so all is not lost.
I hear so many success stories after an ectopic though. I was just unlucky…
wish you all the best xx

@xxxlouxxx I'm so so sorry that you had to go through that again, and really hope IVF works for you first time!
That is what I'm most scared of, after having a tube removed last year i haven't managed to conceived yet, but going through all of it again is my biggest worry.

What is confusing me is, you had your left tube removed the first time and got pain the second time where the tube was removed but it was right side this time?

xxxlouxxx · 16/03/2023 22:08

it confuses me. The pain started in my left side but eventually after having methotrexate it went to my right side.
I have read lots that you can get pain where you tube was removed, especially when ovulating or on your period and I definitely experienced when I wasn’t pregnant again. I now get pain both sides when I ovulate.
I’ve had IVF before which was successful so I’m very hopeful. It’s just so expensive !
I really hope you get pregnant and it all works out well for you xx
