Two chemicals in a row 😪

Hi,

I am not really sure why I’m posting. I suppose I just want some support. My partner and I have been trying to conceive for a very long time with no luck. We were due to start IVF this month. Last month I got a positive test but ended in chemical. I think the same is happening again this month 😔

Has anyone else had two chemicals in a row?

Any ideas why we’ve not conceived for over two years and now suddenly conceived, albeit ended in chemicals, two months in a row?

Does anyone have any success stories following multiple chemicals? If so did you have medical support to have a successful pregnancy?

TIA

Sorry, I'm not much help :( had a chemical back in August 2021 and stopped TTC for a while and not had a positive since then.

Fingers crossed that everything works out for you xx

I've just had two back to back early losses. Feel your pain. TTC #2.

Is this #1 for you?

SlurpSlooChortle · 13/08/2022 19:25

You're giving me hope. I just lost my first IVF attempt yesterday.

OP how old are you? Could it be age related?

After two children I had two miscarriages (7wk and 8wk) some way apart, then nothing for months then two chemicals very close to each other.

Still on the waiting list for the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Several months passed by. Nothing.

I'm now just shy of 10wk pregnant and have had an early scan. All is well so far. This time the doctor prescribed me progesterone after confirming the pregnancy. I had no medical assistance in getting pregnant though.

Perhaps it's too early to call this a good news story, but 18 months + after TTC, this is exciting. Even if I don't get to meet the baby, I've got further than before.

Wishing you the very best of luck.

I had two chemicals In a row in 2020, first in July would have been around 5 weeks, second in September which should have been 6 weeks.

third time lucky for us gave us out now 15 month old . I had preeclampsia in my first pregnancy so had aspirin from my dating scan appointment around 12 weeks.

there’s hope 💐

Scrambledeggz · 13/08/2022 20:02

Thanks all you are giving me hope.

Yes number 1 for us. I’m 33 and have had all the tests and all look fine so I feel pretty hopeless.

Having waited such a long time for a positive, to have two chemicals back to back is heartbreaking 💔

I was trying for my 2nd baby and had 2 chemicals in the space of 7 months. Both were around 6 weeks. I knew straight away that I was pregnant both times and also knew straight away when it was over. Just a sinking feeling.

It finally worked out and I now have a 2 year old Daughter but the chemicals are so gutting.

Wishing you luck x

It’s very hard to base it on chemicals as there is not much data on it. Miscarriages are very common, and not often an indicator of future fertility. The early pregnancy tests haven’t been out that long in the history of pregnancies, for example for many of our mothers, a chemical would just mean a late period and they would have no idea they were pregnant. That’s why I sometimes think they are a bit of a curse! I understand it’s slightly different in your scenario as you are about to undertake IVF, so if there is a genetic issue then they should be able to do a lot more about it. Please don’t give up hope, it really is a lot more common than you think. Good luck!

Scrambledeggz · 13/08/2022 20:51

@Flowersflowers121 everything crossed for you. Have you had any tests or anything?

@Scrambledeggz no tests done yet as this is maybe only our 6th cycle trying properly.

We weren't trying just yet last year and fell pregnant just before our wedding (the one that ended in a chemical).

Will def look into doing that if we're not successful in the next few months x

I am just going through my second chemical in a row, it’s such an emotional rollercoaster and I’m trying to stay positive! I’ve heard that it’s not an indication anything is wrong, I have two beautiful children already (8,4) so I’m hoping this is just bad luck! Going to try again this month and pray for the best x

Charl881 · 15/08/2022 19:25

Hi, no advice but I feel your pain and frustration. I had back to back chemicals in March and May (didn’t try in April), been TTC since September 2021 for number 2. Didn’t have a single chemical with DS that I’m aware of although did take 13 cycles to conceive. Now really worried that there must be something causing it. Bloods have come back as fine (GP did quite extensive ones) and we’re holding off on further tests until the winter time for various reasons.

I have heard that chemicals can be a way of your body preparing itself for a healthy pregnancy but not sure how true that is.

I hope you have some luck soon.
