Implantation Bleeding

So my husband (27) and I (28) have been TTC for 2.5 years now, so much so that I’m due to start my IVF injections next Wednesday (day 2). My cycle is like textbook, ovulate day 14, cycle lasting 27/28 days. I had a tv scan on day 14 of this cycle in preparation for IVF next cycle and the doctor confirmed I’d just ovulated. Hubby and I had done the deed two days before and the day of (like we usually do).

I had heard of implantation bleeding before, never having experienced it myself. I should probably say I’ve never had a BFP. I’m 9DPO today and went to wipe and saw a smear of pink/brown on the toilet paper. I have felt very hormonal the last week and mildly crampy today. I can’t decide if it’s more likely that my period is starting very early or by some coincidence I have fallen pregnant in the month before I’m due to start IVF. I haven’t seen anything since, perhaps very small amounts on toilet paper but not like early (basically gone). Has anyone else experienced this and got a BFP? I’m not sure if the timings line up with the bleeding, I’ve just never had this before. I’ve attached a picture (sorry tmi) just in case that helps. Thanks in advance!

That looks like it could be it op! The timing works too. Sorry I have no more advice. You just have to wait to test now.

Thanks both! I can’t believe it might be happening now, I haven’t thought for so long that this would be a possibility. When are you testing? I don’t know whether to hold out or try one of those 10ul tests. I don’t think I can wait until next Tuesday 😅 would you have hcg at the time of implantation bleeding?

I had IVF a couple of weeks ago. I have had BFP pregnancy tests and had bleeding which looked exactly like that beforehand. Good luck, fingers crossed for you!

On Sunday I had some very light spotting. Continued to Mon, Tues then had about the same heaviness as yours yesterday.

I used the 6 days early line tests until yesterday. I had BFN Sunday. On Monday I had a line so faint I wasn’t even sure it was there. On Tuesday, Wednesday it was slightly darker but still borderline BFN. Yesterday I tried a digital and it gave me pregnant 1-2 weeks. Today I did a cheapie pink line test which gave a definite positive, as did another digital.

Go ahead and test, but from my experience this week, even if you initially get a BFN that doesn’t mean it won’t turn into a BFP.

Thank you all! It did stop yesterday and I’ve had exactly the same type of bleeding this morning - is it supposed to be a once off or can it last a few days? Congratulations for both your BFPs, I will be over the moon if this turns out to be my BFP 🥰

Can you remember which DPO you started seeing a line? I took a test this morning (the 6 day early) and got a BFN on 11DPO - I guess that means I’m out because this test should be picking it up by now right? I know you said it can still go to a BFP but looking at the box the test is 99% accurate at this stage. TIA!

I've had very similar to you before both my bfps. I got my bfp a couple of days after. Mine was on/off spotting for a few days.

But could take a few days for your HCG to rise enough for tests to pick up.

Any update on this post?! Ive had exactly the same on the tissue and a little brown today on a pad. Im 5 days before my period and done countless early tests all negative! Just not sure whether to get my hopes up or not?! X

Unfortunately it wasn’t my time this time! My period showed up a few days later (4 days early). So started my first IVF round now which is exciting. Fingers crossed for you that it’s a BFP soon!

@Snb1710 aw im so sorry. We are trying one more month if we arent successful doing IVF. Are you going private or NHS? X

@gemmabrittonuk Ah it’s okay, it just would’ve been a nice little miracle story to tell one day! We are going through the NHS but at a private clinic (if that makes sense). Have you been TTC long?

@Snb1710 aw fab yes ill be trying nhs first see how long the wait is.. Had 2 miscarriages been trying for 2 years now. I feel like im having zero luck after my last miscarriage operation so our private doctor is seeing how we get on naturally for 3 months with intralipid drips and go from there 😭 i have that brown spotting now so got excited thinking i might be pregnant but not sure x

@gemmabrittonuk Wishing you all the luck, hopefully this will be your month! I haven’t experienced a pregnancy yet, I know it’s naive to think IVF is the answer but things are looking positive so I’m holding onto that for now. Yeah the NHS isn’t the fastest, we started the process in Jan this year and we are receiving our IVF cycle now (that’s by choice, we could’ve started 2 months ago). But they are funding much more than we anticipated so for us the wait (approx 6 months) was worth it.

@Snb1710 period just arrived 😭 will try again next month and in the mean time ring my doctors every day at 8am to try and get an appointment to talk about ivf. Im hoping i have a chancr but ive had miscarriages so concerned they might be like oh you can get pregnant you dont need it? Any tips would be good! In meantime might see how much ivf private is x

@gemmabrittonuk I’m so sorry! I know, it’s just the worst feeling. When you try and make an appointment at the GP we just said we need an appointment because we haven’t been able to conceive for 2 years and everything progressed from there. They will do some basic checks and then refer you. When you’re referred they will decide if IUI and/or IVF is suitable for you and if it is then you get to choose where you’d like to start. We were offered both but decided to go straight to IVF as there were much higher chances of conception for us (just know you can’t go back to IUI if you start with IVF) on the NHS.
The eligibility criteria are fairly strict and differ slightly by where you live. I know they won’t deny you treatment because of your miscarriages, but you won’t be eligible if you or your partner have any biological or adopted children (along with a few other things).
The clinic told us a round of IVF costs anywhere between £5-8k depending on how many extras you choose to add. It looks like they do a lot of “more affordable” ways to pay if you choose to go that route (and it’ll be much quicker). I hope that helps to get you started, good luck!!

Sorry to jump on this post but I don't know how to make another. I had my firat 5d egg fresh transfer done 8 days ago egglet was rated 5bb today I woke up and I had some brown discharge when I put my pesseries in and then this afternoon it's starred turning more pinky brown no clots and not lots of it.. I have had a few cramps but nothing much, my normal period was due yesterday and I'm not due to take the PT for another week does anyone know if this bleeding is normal or am I starting a period I'm so stressed it's unreal

Hello! So it turns out from this original post it was my parried starting very early (and after a few days of on/off spotting). However, the cycle after I had a fresh 5 day embryo transfer and had brown discharge when putting in my pessary (I attaché d a photo for ref, sorry if tmi). I wasn’t due to take my pregnancy test for another 4/5 days but something came over me and I took it either the day my period was due or the day after (I can’t remember). I got my BFP!!!! And now 14 weeks pregnant :) it’s sounding really positive for you, fingers crossed you get your BFP so soon!
