Bbt chart confusion

Hi everyone, I am TTC2 have have been unsuccessful for several months. I am using several apps and this month decided to use OPKs and BBT but none of the apps/calculators seem to agree when I ovulated. Does this chat mean anything to anyone? I think I ovulated on 18th and was hoping BBT could maybe incidate a potential BFP or not but its left me more confused that ever!

I'm not an expert but it seems you either haven't ovulated, or you have but on the 21st depending on if your temperatures go up over the next few days. Today could just be a random dip. But then it doesn't look like your temps have risen that much after the 21st.

Have you carried on using OPKs? Sometimes your temp dips on the day of ovulation so that could be today. It's possible to get multiple LH surges in a cycle.

Based on this chart it's not clear you have ovulated.

Agreed with the previous poster. Your chart shows it's anovulatory so far as there's been no temperature shift. What did the temp do today?

Are you temping at exactly the same time each day, setting an alarm to wake up at that time, leaving the thermometer in long enough (my first thermometer beeped after a short while, then I noticed if I kept it in my mouth long enough the temp continued to rise.....it therefore wasn't giving me my actual bbt at the beep)?

@Regenbogen22 i'm using a digital forehead thermometer but always temp at 6am. I'm new to bbt sorry

😳okay first step, order a basal body temperature thermometer today, it needs to show 2 decimal places and needs to be inserted somewhere 😉Under the tongue is fine.

Temping needs to be done immediately on waking, ideally at exactly the same time each morning. I had to get up for work everyday at 5 am anyway so worked out well. Kept that going on weekends too because it was important to me.

Like I said, it needs to show the highest temperature so needs to be left in a while. I ignored the beep and waited until the temp stopped rising.

You can also buy a thermometer which you insert in the vagina each night (looks like a little Kegel ball thing) but that's obviously much more expensive!

Yep, definitely start with a proper BBT thermometer and things will start to make sense. I think the ovulation shift is characterised by a sustained (3 day or more) rise in temps that's more than 0.2 degrees higher than the pre-ov temps.

I wondered why your chart looked so....I dunno the word for it but....straight??

When you ovulate your temp goes up by 0.3-0.6 c. If you aren't using a BBT thermometer then it's hard to see the rise. Using a forehead thermometer isn't accurate for this. There's been days I've woken up really hot but my BBT is low and vice versa.

OPK and EWCM is a good sign of ovulation but doesn't mean you have or will ovulate.

I've "ovulated" twice this month if I go by OPK and EWCM but judging by my temps I haven't ovulated yet 😤

Here is my chart from my last cycle for an example. Although I stopped temping for the last part due to being on holiday. I usually took the bbt at ~6am, the up triangle and down triangle show when I deviated from that time. Eg 5:30, 6:40.

Try plugging the data into Fertility Friend as their graphs are easier to read (I find, anyway!). If your temps are still rising that sounds all good so far...
